Accused of being a parody of myself at 7.23 this morning in the cafe at Chester Station, possibly the earliest time of day I’ve ever been accused of being a parody of myself.

This has brought me a lot of joy just now, not least for the absolute blast of nostalgia that was being reminded of Hairy Maclary (from Donaldson's dairy)
Would anyone like to try a @worldbookdayuk.bsky.social quiz I wrote for the teachers at my daughter's school as part of a PTA fundraiser, which is absolutely just general knowledge, but which the staff rep on the PTA has hilariously deemed 'too hard' for the teachers? #worldbookday #quiz

Heritage delivers so much for nature, as havens and homes. Sitting in the church yard, just four minutes and so many birds shared their song. I walked by the pond to get here and saw a kingfisher and a heron. Heritage preserves more than earthworks and mortar.

Walking just before Xmas we came across this lovely cosy pub, warm, full of people, nice staff, great looking food… we couldn’t stay long but we resolved to return and we today we did! Nearly empty, stank of piss and VERY average food.

A mere three weeks after I’ve felt able to afford the basic Discovery+ package (6.99) to start watching ski jumping again, Discovery ‘reorganise their subscriptions’ and say that I can only watch ski jumping if I also shell out for premier league football (30.99). Ffs the sheer greed of these orgs

Hey, now’s as good a time as any for you to read Charlotte Beradt’s The Third Reich of Dreams. It’s a fascinating look at the psychological impacts of life in the early years of an authoritarian regime, based on records of dreams from mid-1930s Germany. PDF available online.

This may be the end of the fighting. It certainly won't be the end of the genocide.
Palestinians will need massive amounts of aid as they begin to recover and rebuild. Gazans will still be living in the world's largest open air prison.

Oh God please let this be the end of it. Fifteen months of genocide. Fifteen months begging supposedly moral people to do the moral thing. Fifteen months watching people who know better lie or be silent when they knew what was going on.

If it’s true that a ceasefire agreement has been reached, it’s more important than ever to donate to Gazan fundraisers.
Here are some campaigns that truly need your help that @divyampersaud.com has been working tirelessly to get more donations in - please share and donate! Every little bit helps!

Quoted £43 to get back a coat lost at Manchester Airport. That’s £15 more than the coat cost so I reckon we’ll leave it thanks.

Well, I did it. Finished another book so can now, neatly, start my holiday reading when we set off on holiday.
Ok, morning of 18th, holiday on 21st, just finished a book, do I start my ear-marked holiday reading now or try to squeeze another book in before the weekend?
