My book, Scattering Plenty is published by The History Press. The story of how farming and the countryside changed throughout the 20th Century and the people who made it happen. Order it here bit.ly/42ielg5

Orchestrated campaign by the bike right of politics, Farage has jumped on a bandwagon, what a surprise🤣

I’ve spent most of the last week visiting @nationaltrust.org.uk properties, hearing from staff & volunteers, thinking hard about its future. The idea that fraudulent Farage has anything useful to say on the Trust & it's work is laughable. He’s a lightweight fraud, the Trust is the best of Britain.

The brilliant work restoring the ‘land of lost content’ in the Shropshire Hills being led by two inspiring young farmers, the lively fishing parties of Sandwich terns on Strangford Lough and planting spring bulbs. My @thetimes.com Nature Notebook online now and in today’s paper.

On World Bookshop say, why not make a special visit to your local second-hand or antiquarian bookshop. At Countryside Boojs we are open at Cromford Mills all day. Lots of parking, cafes and other artisan and independent shops. DE4 3RQ. I

I’ve worked with dozens of high profile British organisations. Never once was a senior figure in any of those bodies convicted of taking bribes from a hostile foreign nation. Reform is neither normal nor acceptable. Whatever your politics, don’t back these crooks.

Agatha Christie fell in love with Greenway in Devon, professing it the most beautiful place on Earth. I think she had a point. The @nationaltrust.org.uk have done a masterly job restoring the house & gardens, curating a collection that is both elegant and tells the story of Christie’s life & works

The performing arts, literature, film, theatre and the like are vital parts of the UK creative industries. Culture, heritage, the disciplines that place human life in context make our museums and galleries live. Mindless money-minded goons like Badenoch have no idea what makes Britain successful.

If there weren’t thousands of reasons never to vote for this shower again, this is another one. Aside from the arguments in favour of the academic value of any degree being valid, the world of work is much more complicated than ever before and many disciplines can provide skills needed by employers

Cast your vote in our Annual General Meeting before midnight on 31 Oct: buff.ly/aczpS66

You can help shape the Trust now and for generations to come so that we remain a place for everyone, for ever.
A photo of a young boy in a blue waterproof coat looking up through a pair of binoculars at something unseen in the surrounding woodland scene. Text overlay reads: "have you cast your vote yet? Make your voice count in this year's AGM"

I’ve joined hundreds of others today in signing a letter to the Prime Minister encouraging the Government to hold firm on plans to strengthen legal protections for National Parks and National Landscapes.

I heard commentators this morning saying Badenoch had matured, was better prepared and less combative. Doesn’t really look like it to me?

165 of the people who live in the village where his ‘kids’ are being raised are white. 1 is a person of colour.
jimdixonwriter.bsky.social
Robert Jenrick, multi millionaire who sends his ‘kids’ to private school, lives in a prosperous leafy suburb sounding off on a community he knows nothing about. Note, former Conservative Mayor of West Midkands Andy Street debunked Jenrick’s nonsense. And this guy is the saviour of Conservatives!

The US is destroying its chance of global leadership in electric vehicles. EU also lagging

Globally, EVs are on an expanding trend and the tech is set to be dominated by China

This was not inevitable, but the result of poor political choices by the West

Well, if the first 125 000 included the entire membership of the Tories that would solve the recurring nightmare that has so blighted Britain.

Leaving the ECHR is just another "cause" that right-wing lunatics can latch onto.

It's Brexit 2.

And like the original most people backing, it don't understand it, don't really believe in what they
are doing and do not care one jot what havoc it causes.

If the Union, our national relationship with the EU and the record of her party in Government are the basis of her offer to her party and the electorate, how can she be so woefully ill-informed? More evidence that she doesn’t prepare, doesn’t take advice and is just combative when challenged.

If GB News is against the new Archbishop of Canterbury I’m right behind her. Got to have been a good appointment.

So sad to hear that primatologist Jane Goodall has died. My wife knew her as a champion of animal behaviour, primate science and conservation. She has been an inspiration to everyone with a love of and interest in the natural world.

I hope all those dimwit apologists for Trump such as Farage, Tice, Rees-Mogg, Johnson, Truss and all their media backers will hang their heads in shame as the amazing UK film
Industry is damaged by Trump’s disastrous film tariffs. All those skilled creatives, film professionals and UK venues harmed
