Spring isn't really that far away, if you believe 😅🤣😂

I just did three days in a row...it's been single digits all week. We only ran into about 2 dozen fish, so I'll be back out tomorrow. Tight lines, good luck and be safe.

I'm just dusting off my insect collection from college. I'm going to start collecting again while I'm foraging this season.

Here's a shot of the same species from an earlier post, but I'm reposting it for comparison.

Not my greatest shot, but I believe these to be Golden Spindles.

Luckily, there are federal seed banks we sent thousands of seeds collected from Ash species in the northeast.

If the EAB do relent at some point, we have lots of genetics safely stored. Hopefully, EAB doesn't switch hosts when Ash dies out.

The Feds are working on crossing Chestnut genetics too.

I was involved with Emerald Ashborer research in NY and a slow ash mortality program SLAM.

We are looking at a near eradication of Fraxinus 🫣

So, you're one of those guys 🤓 LOL.

Congratulations!!!

I actually completely respect your area of study. I worked in invasive species management myself.

I'll have to post a picture of my entomological collections... when I think of it .

Family indicate that I indeed forget many things that happen. I thought I formed new memories properly but it's really hard to tell. I sometimes need to be told and reassured that I've addressed those issues recently. If I keep it in my head for a while, there's a possibility I could remember it.

This one is the original picture of the Emerald Ashborer that I took one day after it was reported in NY. It ended up in some conservation magazines and on the front of a few million brochures. It's my brush with fame, LOL

They are not toxic as far as I'm aware and are widely used in teas.

You'd never want to eat them because it's similar to chewing wood shavings 😋

Be careful. People can be allergic to anything! Mix the mushroom powder with your favorite teas when you steep it. The T Tail alone isn't very appealing

If you need to know what they are I can ID lots of these…but not all of them. Also, post your mushroom or forest related pics here if you like.
