Software engineer from Toronto. Big fan of Elixir, Python, AI and Distributed Systems. Also really into rock climbing.
Initially I thought that AI could be used as a way to spend less energy when programming but as I get used to the idea of running many instances of an agentic CLI tool at once I’m coming to realize that is not true.

Read through a bunch of EU V developer posts, it’s so fascinating to see their attempt to simulate history. Admittedly, it is through the lens of a game that is supposed to be fun but it’s interesting to see how they try to simulate the centralization of states and other historical trends.

Jotting down a board game idea:
Void Cities:
Players play “void cities”. Absolutely massive ships which contain immense numbers of people, and robots. These ships are all owned by a corporation named Arc Corp. the goal of the players is to achieve independence.

In the projects I’ve run, the success of those projects has often by how quickly we can get to “meeting reality”. Like the quote “no plan survives contact with the enemy”, technical work can’t be kept isolated within an ivory tower. We must meet reality as soon as possible.

I’ve had some success building out a tool that leverages local LLMs to help me manage my email, it looks like I may actually achieve 0 inbox 😀

I don’t think anything’s had as much an effect on my workflow as Claude Code has had. As much as people worry incessantly about AI slop, I have to say that the Claude Code is the first time I’ve realized the practical potential of AI for my use and to be honest, it’s supercharged my productivity.

Just finished @mikeduncan.bsky.social History of the Martian Revolution. 29 half-hour audio episodes of a fictional retrospective on the future history of Earth and Mars, full of fascinating characters, flawed decisions, important morals. Incredible work, overall.

Been watching Pantheon season 2 on YouTube, absolutely love it! Recommend to anyone into “hard” sci-fi especially sci-fi in the digital sense (emphasis on AI not space)

If you want to positively impact adoption of #ElixirLangwrite more abstractions. Abstract away OTP but allow for power users to customize if they need. Write the simple things that too many neckbeards have said "you can roll your own".
