A shame Highest to Lowest hasn’t gotten the push it deserves. A slow build for this Kurosawa spin, Denzel Washington’s great, so are Jeffrey Wright and ASAP Ricky. But this is a decidedly Spike Lee joint, in style and substance. His energized stamp is the star.
