Here we go! TQG is now live and @conrad-esq.bsky.social and I have dropped our first Main Feed ep on #brokebackmountain.

Check it out and hit us up with your thoughts!
Today’s the day! @conrad-esq.bsky.social and @joelipsett.bsky.social launch the pod with our first theme: Internalized Rural Homophobia

Up for discussion: aggressive make-outs, casting straight actors in gay roles, that iconic score, and the legacy of BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN within queer cinema circles

Shocking no one: MISERY remains as fantastic as ever 35 years later.

And it was delightful to have the iconic @rozhernandez.bsky.social join us to talk Annie Wilkes as Hagsploitation and old people’s sex lives!
Squirrel away those pills and burn that manuscript because we're talking about Rob Reiner's adaptation of Stephen King's #Misery (1990).

Joining us for the discussion is comedian @rozhernandez.bsky.social, who has begun (but maybe never finished?) every King novel.

Finally: I don’t think THIRTEEN LIVES would have been in awards contention, but it’s a really solid (harrowing) aquatic disaster flick.

Kudos to the sound team because OOF, the underwater stuff really got me
Today on the Pod: Ron Howard’s emotional film THIRTEEN LIVES chronicles the risky and controversial mission to save twelve young soccer players and their coach from the rapidly flooding Tham Luang cave in northern Thailand.

Topics include: claustrophobia, star power, and white savior narratives

Blame it on the sickness (?) but KEEPER didn’t work for me at all.

Listen to @tracedthurman.bsky.social and I hash it out on Patreon 👇
Don't eat that cake because we are discussing Oz Perkins' second film of 2025, #keeper.

Written by #DangerousAnimals screenwriter Nick Lepard, this two-hander is big on vibes and short on plot, which proves more of an issue for @joelipsett.bsky.social than @tracedthurman.bsky.social

Expect angry @brennacgray.bsky.social!

WUT?!
Scarlett Johansson will star in Mike Flanagan’s THE EXORCIST.

“Scarlett is a brilliant actress whose captivating performances always feel grounded and real, from genre films to blockbusters,” said Flanagan.

The film will tell an all-new story.

We get to see the murders…and the show treats the culprit like a mystery?!

Discussions include: mystery shooters, compression socks, and Bradley Cooper's A Star is Born.

Pennywise finally returned on this week’s #itwelcometoderry.

Here’s my take on a sewer heavy episode of the HBO series
‘IT: Welcome to Derry’ Episode 5 Review
Pennywise (Bill Skarsgård) makes his debut on IT: Welcome to Derry in an episode that takes the action into the sewers below “Neibolt Street”.

Udo Kier has passed away at 81. A singular screen presence, Kier had a long history in the horror genre, starring in films including Mark of the Devil, Andy Warhol's Frankenstein, Blood for Dracula, Blade, Feardotcom, Rob Zombie's Halloween, and Dario Argento's Mother of Tears.

It’s murder time on MURDAUGH and @jennferatu.bsky.social and I have big feelings about how this plays out
Tomorrow on Patreon: @jennferatu.bsky.social and @joelipsett.bsky.social tackle the sixth episode of MURDAUGH: DEATH IN THE FAMILY, which brings the framing device of the murders back full circle.

Knew very little about this one going into it and found a lot to like!

(I should probably stop making fun of Ron Howard because I have enjoyed his recent output)

So beautiful, heartfelt and completely unique from so many other queer films, @conrad-esq.bsky.social and I adored CACTUS PEARS.

Seek it out if it plays near you because it’s just starting its expansion
We're venturing to rural India to discuss Rohan Kanawade's feature directorial debut, #CactusPears

This heartfelt romantic drama follows Anand as he returns home for the 10 day mourning ceremony following his father's death, reconnects with hunky Balya, and dodges invasive questions from relatives.

This doc is legit mandatory viewing for anyone who watches true crime (and maybe anyone who hates it?)

An absolutely fascinating conceit that works as its own film, as well as a deconstruction of the narrative and stylistic tropes of the subgenre
Director Charlie Shackleton makes lemonade out of lemons after losing the rights to adapt Lyndon Lafferty’s 2012 true crime novel The Zodiac Killer Cover-up AKA The Silenced Badge.

From the ashes of his abandoned doc rises a fascinating exploration of the genre itself with ZODIAC KILLER PROJECT
