As for the “Leto in the room”? He doesn’t ruin it. Surprisingly fitting as a program just starting to — but not fully — grasp what it means to be alive. We’re not talking Barbie levels of existentialism or the countless other films that have tackled the concept better, but it works.

This movie isn’t for everyone — not even all Tron fans — but it plays with some genuinely fun ideas. Fingers crossed we get to see more explored in future trips to the Grid. (Disney, I beg of you, don’t make me wait another 15 years for more Tron).

Just got back from my advance screening of Tron: Ares — and I really enjoyed it. Perfect? No. Flawed? Absolutely. But it’s a blast, especially in IMAX. There were moments when the NIN score literally shook the theater.

In 2010, when Legacy hit theaters, I cobbled together a shoddy-looking Identity Disc, ironed it onto a black tee, and proudly wore it to the midnight screening.

Now it’s 2025, and I’m gearing up to see ARES tonight in IMAX 3D. This is what I’m showing up in.
