Last week, the government published the Draft Commonhold and Leasehold Reform Bill - a major step towards our manifesto commitment to bring the feudal leasehold system to an end as we know it. Here are six things to look out for in the Bill.

It was a huge honour to help open the CHUMS Community Centre on the Henry Dickens Estate recently. ✂️

CHUMS and the formidable Jill Brown do an incredible job supporting elderly and vulnerable residents across our constituency.

Great to welcome students from Barlby Primary School into Parliament! Lots of great questions about politics and what MPs do.

🚇 Fantastic news for our campaign to make South Ken station step free! Since elected I've been leading this campaign & I’m delighted that the Mayor & TfL have agreed to back our campaign to modernise the station, taking full advantage of the multi-year funding settlement from this Labour Government.

Leaseholders across the capital will be celebrating this historic bill. Runaway service charges and ground rents will be a thing of the past.

The desperately needed end to this feudal system is now in sight for millions people across the country.

This week I signed the Holocaust Educational Trust’s Book of Commitment, honouring the six million Jewish men, women and children murdered during the Holocaust. This year marks over 80 years since the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau, in 1945. (1/2)

Thames Water needs to be transparent with residents, following the major flood at Lorne Gardens.

People are in temporary accommodation as a result. We need to know how this happened and we need to know that it won’t happen again. I will be pressing Thames Water for answers in the coming weeks.

My thoughts are with everyone who has been affected by the shocking floods in the Holland Park area.

I strongly welcome the Government's intention to take serious steps to protect children from the harms caused by social media - and to take further action on enforcing bans on phones in schools. (1/4)

Commiserations to Morocco on losing a tight - and controversial - AFCON final to Senegal tonight. The Moroccan community across North Kensington was out in force tonight.

Congratulations to Senegal.

North Kensington was rocked by this horrific shooting in November 2024, so I want to thank all those that contributed to the successful prosecution and sentencing for 38 years of the person who has caused so much hurt, including our local Met Police team.

Some really great news out today regarding the state of our NHS.

From Earl's Court, to Notting Hill Gate, Queensway and across Kensington & Bayswater, I have been supporting residents to halt the gambling takeover of our high streets.

We've had some wins, but the RBKC approval of a new casino just before Christmas shows there is a lot more work to do.

NEW: Many people have been trying to talk London down, but the evidence tells a very different story.

Last year saw:

The lowest homicide rate since records began

The fewest homicides of those aged under 25 this century

Excellent community meeting this morning in St Helen's, North Kensington, including with local representatives and the Police. Topics included local transport, planning, housing policy, the NHS, litter and anti-social behaviour.

Thanks to the West London Bowling Club for hosting!

I spoke to ITV News tonight about the conflict of interest at the top of the Conservative Party, where the Shadow Attorney General is simultaneously advising Kemi Badenoch and Shadow Ministers, and sanctioned Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich.

He cannot continue to do both jobs.
January 7, 2026 at 9:55 PM
Completely untenable.

Kemi Badenoch's shadow Attorney-General is unable to do his job, because he has chosen to represent a sanctioned Russian oligarch.
Kemi Badenoch’s spokesperson has said that the shadow attorney general Lord Wolfson has recused himself from any legal advice over Ukraine or Russia because he is representing Roman Abramovich - which would include anything about the deployment of UK troops. That’s a bit awkward.

(1/4) Since being elected as MP for Kensington and Bayswater, I’ve been determined to unlock the full potential of South Kensington station, tackling dangerous overcrowding and making it safer and fully accessible for all.

(1/2) Everyone deserves a safe, healthy home. 🏠
Too many residents are living with damp, mould and long delays for repairs.

That’s why I’ve launched my Safe & Healthy Homes campaign locally, backed by Labour’s £39bn investment in social housing to make homes safer and more secure.

Wishing everyone in Kensington & Bayswater a Happy New Year! 🎆

(1/2) There is a clear conflict of interest at the heart of the Conservative front bench. A shadow Attorney General cannot advise a sanctioned Russian oligarch while holding such a senior political role.
December 31, 2025 at 2:40 PM
Representing Roman Abramovich - a sanctioned Russian oligarch - while serving as Conservative shadow Attorney-General risks a huge conflict of interest.

Kemi Badenoch needs to make a choice. Either Lord Wolfson continues as shadow AG or advises Abramovich.

He can’t do both.

I was shocked to find out how much public money has been spent with companies cited in the Grenfell Inquiry. New powers in the Procurement Act can help - here is my comment to @jessicaelgot.bsky.social in @theguardian.com today:
