It may not be a good glue! Saw where someone recommended sealing gold leaf after. Do you do that and if so what do you use?
joeslucher.bsky.social
Gold leafing a print. I may have figured out what I did wrong before with not waiting long enough for the glue to get tacky.

Anybody have some gold leafing tutorials/materials they recommend? Haven't been happy with my results.

Can't say because of NDAs but checked off the last of the sensible dream properties to work on from when I was younger! Now there's just the stuff that doesn't really make sense anymore; Hellblazer, 100 Bullets, Ronin Warriors, and Might and Magic.

MCAtlanta was great! Thank you to everyone who stopped by. It was nice to see some old friends(Julio!) and see some new ones irl for the first time. I always feel lucky as hell to get into any of these events and even moreso MagicCon. Like always I forgot to take any pics... except of some new dice
A hand full of pretty blue dice.

I'm a veteran release expert in games who specializes in consoles, porting, audio, QA/UX + many other things through www.plasticfernstudios.com

If you want help from people who care deeply about games (and the health of their teams!) please reach out so we can help you! Check out some of our work
A collection of game title card images showcasing multiple games Plastic Fern Studios has worked on including Dispatch, Blippo+, Crossy Road Castle, Playdate, Goodbye Volcano High, Star Stuff, Dawnfolk, Sacre Bleu, Stray Gods, Ridiculous Fishing, Oxenfree, Oxenfree II, Escape Academy, Descenders, Nour, Virtual Virtual Reality 2, Salt and Sanctuary, Shovel Knight Pocket Dungeon, The Red Lantern, and Patrick's Parabox Recent client statements from people Plastic Fern Studios have worked with. The first reads "Plastic Fern helped us successfully navigate the complex world of console development for Crossy Road Castle, a cross platform multiplayer game across Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5 and Xbox. Their staff were extremely professional, experienced, personable, and worked with us as though they were part of our team. No hesitation to strongly recommend their services.

Robert Walkley, CTO
Hipster Whale"

the next reads " A big part of Playdate’s success is the games — and there are a lot of games! Plastic Fern was critical and instrumental in making sure Playdate shipped with solid, playable, enjoyable games, both in Season One, and beyond!

Cabel Sasser, Co-founder
Panic, inc."

The last one reads: "Plastic Fern has been an incredible team to work with for porting and maintaining Escape Academy, and gave us compliant and performant ports that were well received by our players. Extremely communicative, considerate, and schedule-conscious, with a deep knowledge of the technical intricacies of each platform. we'd strongly recommend them.

iam8bit" A screenshot of an article from Game Developer that reads "Deep Dive: Creating the touch controls for Descenders on mobile. The team behind the iOS and Android port of downhill freerider Descenders break down how they created the title's touch controls." A visual flowchart showing a life cycle of a plant as a metaphor for the console development cycle. It shows different stages like planning, budgeting, integration, testing, ratings and other things leading up to (and after) a game's release.

Next week I'll be at MagicCon Atlanta! Please come by. I'll be offering all the signing options and will have artist proofs, playmats, prints, and paintings.

I do think the lightened building helps differentiate the building from the sky so I do think it's better. If a collector wanted the building in the original lightened, it wouldn't be a problem.
joeslucher.bsky.social
It's probably a combination of things. The photo with me backlit is probably making it all look a little darker, the original photographing and stitching may have been lighter than reality when trying to adjust them to match, but I may have lightened the entire metal building for WotC.

Returned to oils after a couple months break and HOT DAMN I forgot how much more I love them over acrylics. Acrylics felt so cold and calculating and oils just feels so sexy comparatively.

I would have to check but I believe it's like any cards for Arena. No artist proofs provided but prints and playmats (through Ultra pro) allowed.

I'll have the original at MCAtlanta and am hearing offers at the moment. Hopefully I'll get permission to show the sketch soon and that will be posted to my website.

Kumonosu the Watchful for Through the Omenpaths. Art direction by Deborah Garcia. Copyright and trademark Wizards of the Coast. I REALLY wanted to do a piece 100% in acrylics but ended up having to do the glowy bits in oils. 18x24 on board.
