🌍📖 Leave the World Behind by Rumaan Alam
⭐️⭐️⭐️✨ (3.5 stars)
A beautifully written, eerie setup that never quite delivers on its promise. Incredible atmosphere, solid tension, that teeth scene 😬

Are your bookshelves sleek and clean or organized as in "Yes it's a mess, but I know exactly where each one is and don't move anything!"

I love the look clean, organized shelves but I have too many books and not enough space.

The second time just doesn't hit the same for a lot of books, but especially these six. There's just something about not knowing the story, what feelings it will bring, and what lessons you'll learn. What books were magical the first time for you?

This one stopped me. It’s so easy to wait, to avoid. But when we don’t choose, life still moves.

This will not work for everyone. It takes the best of "Earthlings," "Convenience Store Woman," and "Life Ceremony," and jam packs it into one novel. It has its flaws but ends in a way that left me asking, "WTF is going on?!" in a way, very few authors can do.
✨2 stars✨
This one just didn’t work for me. Great cover, but the story? Not so much. Hoping my next BotM pick hits better.

#ThursdayThoughts | How many unread books is too many?

Most of the books I own are unread and I have A LOT. It's a bit of a problem, but it keeps me excited to read what is on my shelves. I do liked keeping books that represent me as a reader, though!

Happy #mothersday! Here are 6 #books to celebrate with before Sunday. #horrorbooks #booksky
#BookedReview 🖤 Our Share of Night – 3.5⭐
Incredible writing, creepy vibes, and solid queer rep, but the plot + characters lost me. I kept wanting more while also wishing it was shorter. Loved the potential, not the execution. #HorrorBooks #QueerReads #MarianaEnríquez #booksky
What's your most surprising book of the year? My answer for today's #Thursdaythoughts is The Serpent & the Wings of the Night by @carissabroadbent.bsky.social. It's not my fav genre & I thought it was going to be a huge #romantasy, but I'm planning on reading the rest of #thecrownsofnyaxia! #booksky
April was stacked 📚I read 8 books this month, and 5 of them were 4 stars or higher-a solid mix of thrills, feels, and unexpected favorites.
What did you read in April?

5 poetry books on my TBR for #PoetryMonth 📝 Most are queer, most explore race, all are calling me in with sharp, beautiful language. If you’ve read any of these, tell me which one to start with! 💖📚 #QueerPoetry #Booksky #PoetryTBR #QueerReads #IndigenousReads #RaceReads
#BookedReview 🐺 Such Sharp Teeth – 4⭐
Flawed but SO fun. Loved the wit & werewolf-as-pregnancy metaphor. Great commentary on trauma too, even if it felt a bit undercooked. Hated the romance, but I’m def reading more Rachel Harrison. #QueerHorror #WerewolfLit #BookReview #Booksky
just finally picked it up today!
#BookedReview 🧟‍♂️ Elegy for the Undead – 3.5⭐
Grief horror lite: think Our Wives Under the Sea but make it zombies and men. The Alzheimer’s metaphor didn’t go deep enough for me, but I still felt connected to Jude & Lyle. Would read more from Vesely! #QueerHorror #QueerReads #Booksky
#ThursdayThoughts what's your go to reading snack/drink? For me, it just depends on what I'm craving at the time. I go on a kick with different snacks. #booksky
📚 Happy World Book Day to the haunted, the heartbroken, and the hecka queer.
Today I’m celebrating the stories that bite back — horror that lingers and queer fiction that refuses to play it safe.

#BookedReview | Happiness Falls by Angie Kim
A layered, emotional mystery that surprised me more than once. It’s about family, communication, and how truth can shift depending on who’s telling it. I gave it ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ — a thoughtful read that lingers. Have you read this one? #Booksky #Reads
