Earl Wild’s surrounds Bach’s melody with a new suit of clothes not too different from Bill Evans or Oscar Peterson - with a wink at the end…

I believe that the American pianist Earl Wild is still not sufficiently recognized for the probing depth of his incredible performances in a wide range of repertoire - his dazzling technique was beyond reproach and so was his music-making. Some great performances linked in the comments thread today.

What a marvelous post and selection of performances to share! I can only echo your praise and agree that his genius is not sufficiently engaged or celebrated. His giant sound and generous guidance has been a north star in my own musical journey since student days.
