We now know - from the #CovidInquiry - that 23000 people in England died because Boris Johnson wouldn’t focus & agree to a lockdown in time. Where we needed a serious & focussed Prime Minister we had instead a lazy, lying clown. People lost their lives as a result.

Many things I don’t miss about being an MP. But I do miss my constituents and constituency event visits - especially seeing all the brilliant creativity from the weans in the run up to Christmas.

Internal Tory polling reveals the party is headed for just 14 seats if the election was held tomorrow. Pushing Brexit through. Electing Johnson. Then Truss. Inventing an immigration crisis. Tories have created the petri dish for the Faragist virus to grow & kill off their party.

It’s Scottish Book Trust’s annual ‘Books Week Scotland’. What have you been reading? Here’s my cosy book reading spot at home! The chair (Eames La Chaise) is a lot more comfy than it looks.

On the shelves you’ll see a collection of my Uncle Bobby’s novels (1960s Glasgow author Robert Nicolson.)

For Shabana Mahmood to attack some of the most cruelly treated people in the world as having won a "golden ticket" because they manage to get to and claim asylum in Britain is unforgiveable.

A new, far right, low for which I can think of no precedent, by any UK Government.

Labour drops back yet further as Greens surge in England. Reform still well out in front.

Big birthday celebrations for the Glasgow University Union last night. We presented the wee silver trophy in the foreground to commemorate our 1983 World Student Debating Championship win at @Princeton Frank McKirgan & I persuaded the US audience to ‘regret’ their Declaration of Independence….

We keep hearing about Starmer’s multiple broken promises. For me perhaps the most unforgivable was over #Gaza Israeli war crimes & his abandoned leadership campaign human rights pledges.

I love a bit of restoration. Here’s our new cludgie. Victorian pan from @GWauction with E bay seat purchase, restored and wood grained. Before and after. Took a lot of work…. Cistern box is new.

Starmer’s allies fear a leadership challenge: his “chaotic strategy pushes Labour MPs toward regime change..driven to the brink by the party’s woeful standing. But as one Labour MP said: (No 10) could try not being paranoid and just try being better.”

Trouble in Labour Paradise… “Starmer allies issue warning to PM’s rivals as fears grow over a leadership challenge…No 10 ‘sources’ increasingly worried that Wes Streeting could be planning an imminent coup against the prime minister.”

Pleasure to join Stephen on @TimesRadio earlier to talk about BBC, objectivity, and Trump.

So is ex Tory spin doctor and Boris Johnson appointee Sir Robbie Gibb now an impartial BBC board member? If so, why did he like an anti SNP tweet? Well the (Tory) ex BBC Chair told me Gibb’s finger accidentally passed over the “telephone” & “the heart got pressed.”

Comedy gold.

I wonder if outgoing BBC Director General Tim Davie still thinks Sir Robbie Gibb “understands and supports” him? I suspect not.

I questioned Tim Davie about former Tory spin doctor Gibb - a Boris Johnson appointee. What was his role on the BBC Board?

I’ll be popping up on @lbc shortly to talk about the BBC crisis & Donald Trump. Tune in if you can.

Johnson & Trump in all our attack against the BBC for spreading ‘left wing fake news’. You gotta laugh. Are there two Western politicians less familiar with the truth than these two?

Here’s #Trump today posting a lie that Obama gets “royalties” from
Obamacare health provision.

A tale of two countries. Reform surge continues in England. @theSNP hold clear lead in Scotland. Starmer leading Labour to historic defeat - fourth place in votes, fifth in seats.

Ah this old canard - used by right wing UK governments to traduce their enemies on the left for decades. See Wilson, Foot, Kinnock, Miliburn & Corbyn. Now used by Starmer cronies against @theSNP - a “threat to UK security” apparently. Desperate. www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article...
