It's not just the number of uninformed or non voting citizens. The US electoral system protects wealthy white landowners. The electoral college and the Senate, with 2 senators per state, are highly effective at suppressing democratic voices. Europe doesn't have such an anachronistic system.

It's not that Europe distrusts our government per se, it's that they don't trust our citizens who vote for our government..

Now Republicans want to require you to present a passport for voting, while closing libraries that process passport applications. Even a blind man can see that pattern..
