When we talk about God we’re probably talking about ourselves.

Paul Tillich said, "Never consider the secular realm Godless just because it does not speak of God."

I would add: Never consider the religious realm holy because it speaks easily of God.

It’s hunting season. Sitting near 2 guys at breakfast, I hear 1 say to the other:

"I hunt but I don't shoot much. It's more of a meditation thing for me. I only shoot if it is something I'd really want to hang on my wall."

A suggestion for friends preparing #Advent homilies right now. #Eckhart

I usually prefer no homily at all, at mass. But today when the readings contain a terrible story of "righteous anger" (1 Mac 2) and then another of Jesus foretelling (threatening?) violence (Lk 19:41-4) in Jerusalem, we needed someone to put it into context. We didn't have it. #Catholic

This has gone missing, along with other aspects of book culture: books on reserve at the library.

Instructors no longer do this, because nobody would go to look for them.

On ‘Brian’

“We agreed you couldn’t knock Christ. How can you attack a man who professes peace to all, speaks for the meek, heals the poor, and cures the sick? You can’t. No, the problem with Christianity was the followers, who would happily put each other to death at the drop of a dogma.” Eric Idle
