A big debate out there right now is over the assertion that the virus came from a lab leak. It didn't. You will be convinced if you spend a few hours learning basic molecular biology, which is actually not that hard to understand. You will also be convinced if you read Spillover, which harder. 5/5

There was a recent paper in an international science journal about the appalling conditions for the wild animals sold (only semi-legally) at the Huanan Seafood Market in Wuhan prior Covid19 outbreak, which started there. Animal cages on top of each other, mixed species waiting to be butchered. 4/5

A major sub-theme of the book is world eating habits (he reports from actually going to many places), and while in some subsistence cultures hunting does provide some amount of necessary sustenance, most wild animal consumption is by elite people in society, because it is expensive. 3/5

I mention this because I just finished a remarkable book Spillover, which is about zoonotic source of human disease. Written in 2012, the author David Quammen basically predicted the Covid19 pandemic. 2/5

I don't want to gross out some of my vegetarian friends, but I have eaten a lot of wild game in my life (growing up in the north woods) and I would never consider much of it to be a delicacy, except maybe grouse and quail if cooked right. 1/5

I can prove this to anyone honest enough to want to listen: SARS-CoV2 emerged due to a zoonotic spillover and was not a "lab leak" or "bioweapon". It is kind of important to get this right. A new zoonotic spillover is locked and loaded, and we need to be ready.
