a screenshot of a fanfiction on archiveofourown.org titled sing it to the word, by user driedupwishes. it's a yakuza fandom fic with kiryu kazuma/majima goro based around sawamura haruka's pov. the summary reads "Most people meet their parents in standard, almost traditional ways They're born to them and meet them before their memory even develops, they're adopted or fostered by them through an agency, or they meet one half of them as a process of them becoming a parent, like when Hiro-kun's dad started dating the woman he'd later call mom in fourth grade. Haruka isn't like any of the other kids she knows, though. She meets her parents in terrifying, messed up situations, when they're just strangers struggling to stay alive, before they have any idea that they'll one day be a family. Sometimes Haruka still sees those moments as set dressing for her nightmares like backdrops in a theater. Sometimes, someone will say an opinion and explain why they have that opinion. And I can't help but wonder how they missed all the barely concealed context clues from the writing to have arrived at a conclusion so distant from what the writers intended. Something something critical thinking.
