This quote just about sums up the entirety of modern online culture, doesn't it?

“…Instead of kind of feeling under surveillance, users (are) basically feeling seen.”

A thing I’ve really been working on is when someone apologizes for something, saying “thank you” instead of “it’s okay.”

Don’t need to pretend I wasn’t wronged, you know? Likewise I don’t need to disrespect their apology by dismissing it.

TIL about a memorial ceremony in Iceland in 2019 to mark the end of a glacier, changing the place name from Okjökull to Ok (jökull = glacier). Uncompromising wording on the bronze plaque:
"This is to acknowledge that we know what is happening and what needs to be done. Only you know if we did it".

From a new paper in Nature.... Satellite light pollution is becoming a major problem. If it continues at this rate, this is what our deep space telescope images of the universe will look like.

One of my joys is visiting dark sky parks... and nwo you can't go without seeing many satellites.
