It has been obvious that, for some time now, republicans have not been concerned with reducing the size and scope of government and its power; they have been concerned with ensuring its power serves and protects their own interests, or what they’ve been convinced are their own interests.

There is no doubt that — in form — the gesture that Elon Musk made was indistinguishable from a Nazi/Neo-Nazi salute. There can’t be any serious debate on that matter. The debate then lies in the function and intention of that gesture. 🧵
