I posted my Season's Greetings message on JHM earlier today. Whatever you are doing, and wherever you are this winter, go in peace, with joy and great encouragement. See more at jhm.scilla.org.uk/2025/11/10/s...
Season’s Greetings 2025
The UK is a rich mix of people from many cultural backgrounds. That’s why the title is not ‘Christmas Greetings’. Please accept the greetings and replace the word ‘Season’ with whatever you like.…

OTKC 28 – Take Up Your Cross
Following Jesus was never meant to be a comfortable life decision to improve our happiness or reputation. It was — and still is — a call to surrender our lives completely to Him. Jesus does not sof…

Life, death, resurrection - the latest post on JHM where I write about the #obvious and the more #obscure, the #measurable and #unmeasurable.

jhm.scilla.org.uk/2025/11/02/l...
Life, death, resurrection
Unlike life, death is stable. It’s not often that you see a dead body come alive again. That would be resurrection, it’s not something that we expect to see happening regularly (or at all)!

I've just posted an article on SpaceX's Starship program. Block 2 has run its course with some amazing achievements, now Block 3 has started and might even make it to Mars in 2026. jhm.scilla.org.uk/2025/10/29/t...

I have a problem, I'm away from home in hospital and can view my blog posts on JHM, but I can't access my domain name to edit my posts, nor can I access One.com where I manage my DNS settings. So can't edit posts or create new ones. It's frustrating, but I hope to be home soon to try from there.

It's 14th October, For JouneysHM that can mean only one thing - it's time for another Blast from the past - number 35! The highlighted topic is 'Watermoor Nursery' where the family business produced herbaceous and alpine plants for sale.

A constitution for the church! Why? I felt the need to begin putting some words on paper to better define what we mean by church. Here's a start...

A constitution for the church
A good start would be to state that church is defined by everything that Jesus is and does and teaches and by nothing beyond that.

@scilla.org.uk I've been reading Tim Berners-Lee's latest book 'This is for everyone'. Really enjoying it, the history of the web so far with all of the good, bad and ugly of trying to keep it open and safe from misuse, mismanagement etc.

From 7.30pm at Little Drop of Poison on Fore Street, Exeter. It’s Exeter’s premier new material comedy night largely funded by a raffle-based economy. Come along it’s always a great, unpredictable night.

What happens when you see a reflection on water? Much more than you might think!

Cloud reflection
Just from this image the brain understands there are ripples on the surface of the water and from past experience will also know that these ripples will be moving.

Any idea where the smallest police station in the UK is? Or the smallest in the world? Look no further! Then we consider how small a church could be, and discover churches are not measured the same way as police stations.

Smallest Police station?
However, a quick Google search turned up an even smaller one in Trafalgar Square, London. So Watchet has already lost its brief claim to fame!

The apostolic gift - Apostolic people get troubled and upset if they see people veering away from the truth set out by Jesus and taking control of church life. They know church should never be controlled by people, but by the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Christ.
