Albanese must lead a strong response to the Boorloo Day of Mourning bomb attack.

After the horror at Bondi we saw that leadership on violence and racism is possible with political will.

The same urgency is needed on rising threats against First Peoples.

My response:

My hairdresser did a perfectly acceptable job of cutting my hair today (trimming, really) but I had to pull it back into a clip the moment I got home. Today’s humidity calls for an up do, no matter how much styling I ruin.

Someone DM'd me, but Bluesky is asking for age verification. As I was able to see & read DM's last week, I don't know what suddenly changed.

I’m very lucky to have air conditioning at home, although I try to hold off for as long as possible before putting it on. My eyes are feeling like I’ve had a day at a windy beach.🫩

It feels a bit discombobulating to be experiencing 40°C+ temps here right now and then seeing walls of snow in the Northern Hemisphere.
It’s got me yearning for Winter.

Nothing like stating the obvious, but it's a bit hot out there!

I was making pasties for tea & ran out of puff pastry sheets. Rather than throw the excess filling away, I used a pre-made frozen roti bread as a pastry substitute. It’s just come out of the oven & you can’t tell it’s not puff pastry. Taste test will be lunchtime tmrw as I’ve eaten my fill tonight.

Another day in the garden doing menial tasks that wear me out, but if I don’t do them, the yard gets out of control. I need to get it to a low maintenance point, but feel like I’m still catching up from the last 2 years of injuries.
It beats doom scrolling though, so that’s a win.

The young kids working at the ice cream shop tonight deserve to be paid double. The place is wall to wall with customers!

The youngest daughter and I went on a quest to Whittlesea today.
I’d pulled over to work out the directions home, when I noticed a huge WillyWilly (dust storm)in the side mirror. Did I put the windows up, therefore not filling the car with dust & grit? Dear reader, I did not!

There is a bird calling from the tree in my backyard and my brain deciphered it as “Fuck yeah!”
(I think it’s a Pied Currawong, as I can see them scratching around in the garden.)

About 5 years ago, my leg pain was really bad after playing tennis, so I invested in a leg & calf massager to help ease the discomfort. Although it was an expensive purchase at the time, it’s cheaper than getting a leg massage every week.

2 hours of mulching done. It’s slow going because I’m weeding the beds and trimming plants as I go.

Excellent analogies used in this article.
I wish our government was less timid (or owned by FF & corporations) & more willing to invest in innovation & future proofing. But instead we’ve got #NoGoAlbo & AUKUS.
Australia is wealthy, but structurally weak – too reliant on digging and shipping raw materials, and low on economic and green complexity. That leaves us exposed in a decarbonising world. Time to build capability, not just revenue, writes Stewart Sweeney.

Australia looks like a winner – but we’re losing where it counts
Australia remains wealthy but structurally fragile – highly dependent on raw exports and poorly positioned for a more complex, decarbonising global economy. Economic complexity is a warning signal we can no longer ignore.

I used to be able to finish a project like this in a day. But I faffed about and took my time because the fabric can be difficult to sew. One cover is finished with the 2nd one partially done. I’ll get the inners tomorrow.

Sometimes I get sewing ideas that are a bit above my skill level, but decide to give it a go anyway. And of course, I choose one of the most difficult fabrics to work with. (I'm looking at you, velour!)
Anyway, here goes nothing!

Of what "culture" is it that they speak? Our "culture" of genocide? Our "culture" of racism? Our "culture" of settler-colonialism and imperialism?

NONE of these things held so dear by the Right are "broken." ALL of them are shamefully alive and well, in FULL SWING. #auspol
