Folks! We're in the final, final stretch! If you wanted to pitch in and help @wamcradio.bsky.social wrap up its fund drive in near-record time, now's the time!

For students, This does not appear to be covered by the state's free community college program, but I'm basing that off of a glance at the MoU and an offhand remark from an event goer.
jpaleolo.bsky.social
This builds on partnerships the colleges already have. E.g. credits earned at STCC and HCC can easily transfer into a bachelors degree program at Elms. the housing program is also in it's infancy; officials anticipate about 25 students taking advantage of the offering off the bat

Like everything else I do, that wording could've used some work. Either way, the MoU means community college students who meet the prerequisites can attend classes at either community college and also live at Elms.

For @wamcradio.bsky.social: In Chicopee, several college presidents have gathered at the College of Our Lady of the Elms. The reason: to sign an MoU allowing @stccspringfield.bsky.social and HCC students to make use of the @elmscollege.bsky.social campus via room and board

It's never the same student & they all do this sad, hurried walk down the hall when they hear me get up and approach the door. Either way, I don't know whether to shit or scream when it happens while I'm recording something.

This happens at least once a week. I don't understand what possesses people to think. "huh? a radio station works here? I better enter this room I have no connection to unannounced after destroying a toilet so audibly, the reporter's microphone picked it up"

If you've been following this account, you know these two were my sworn enemies. They're gone, but my new nemesis is: students who come in to use the bathroom across from me, destroy it, leave, but then stand outside my office, read the WAMC sign, then inexplicably try to enter

The uni building I work in is being converted for the engineering department. They're keeping me, but moved both the student improv group that makes recording after 3 PM impossible & the prayer room that had a guy who practically lived there & slammed doors whenever I made noise

Academic departments were asked to prepare 2-3% cuts in their budgets, and staff are realistically fearful of potential furloughs and/or layoffs, but do continue the admitted overinvestment in the concussion-factory that doesn't even win games.

SCROOGE, shouting from his window after being visited by 3 spirits: WHAT'S TODAY, MY FINE FELLOW?!

Kid walking by: TODAY? Why it's Friday news dump day!

SCROOGE: I haven't missed it! The Spirits, have done it all in one night. They can do anything they like. Of course they can...
