Issue: minerals of the same name have such a large visual variety that they’re hard to identify. Also, whilst it’s great to find a decent example of something - like these fluorite cubes - more often the rocks on the beach or in some spoil heap are way more imperfect than pics online or in books.

#MineralMonday bat signal! Help!? Found today in Bowland, north UK. This is a mix of fluorite (fluorescing purple), quartz, baryte and galena but…! What’s this stuff fluorescing light blue? It looks translucent but rounded. I’ve zero idea!

Finding it difficult to post, but it’s not trivial to hold on to the things that you like. So here’s the rocks out of the tumbler ready to go in for their polish. I wasn’t happy with how they were, so I’ve changed a few things and re-tumbled them. Hoping, with patience, they turn out ok:
