Something very crazy happened about six months ago. We bought a budget motorhome and moved out of our house. We traveled to the coast of California and have been spending all of our time working and camping. It has been slow on the art front.. a lifestyle change like this is exhausting!

I drew a bird every day in January. Here was the very last one—the spotted pardalote. I’m proud of myself. I last attempted #birbfest in 2023 and only finished 22 birds! 🪶 had to make him a bit cheeky to celebrate!

Working on today’s bird—a white-throated magpie-jay💙🪶 but also thinking about the power of community, and how I can support my neighbors and friends. We garden every year in our (tiny) backyard and I’m planning more foods to share, native plants for pollinators, and of course, feeding birds!🌱

Today’s bird is the Violet-eared Waxbill.

I think this bird is STUNNING. While looking for references, I learned that they are native to Botswana and have very 👀 secretive habits (meaning they fly reaaaaaally far away if you spook them) 💙💜🪶 #animalart #art
