New lad at the barbers has massacred my hair and spent the whole time talking to me. I dunno what was worse.

Bum cheeks full of Vaseline. Must be Robin Hood Half marathon day.

I guess that’s not unusual as it’s outside of your specialism and quite nitty gritty but next time Mr Gibb has a book due to come out it’d be great if you could pull him up on it 😂

Apologies but I suspect our intakes are very very different. I make no accusations about the effectiveness of primary teachers I’m in agreement of the excellent job they do but those who need it most are missing out on a valid method that would help them understand very much what is going on.
jshmtn.bsky.social
Yes which is so frustrating because now we just get a high number of students not knowing exactly why there’s a zero/placeholder but they know they need one when using column

Yeah I understand what you’re saying and I’m not dismissing other methods at all but I’m a bit dismayed by his lack of understanding of the grid. It’s clear he believes it to be some easy simpleton method rather than what it actually is.

Finally whilst I know I’m harping on about the grid method not only does it lend itself to unpicking the structures of the maths it also allows us to generalise to algebra.

A totally duff comment by NG.

I think that comment made him seem inconsistent in his statements.

Does he want understanding like he suggests? Or does he want fast algorithms as he also suggested at the expense of a grid method for example.

@adamboxereducation.bsky.social whilst I agree with a lot of the changes in the 2010s it’s a shame to hear NG describe grid method multiplication as a nonsense method.

It’s grounded in understanding the structure of the maths and is based on an area model - the most concrete example we have.

Harry is 11 weeks old today and me and Laura have finally managed to sit and watch a film together on a Friday night with some food. What a milestone!

House has been up for sale for months. The Sunday before I go back to work we get an offer of asking price.

Brilliant timing.

Went in a couple days last week to sort a few bits out and have never felt as relaxed 😂

Parenthood just bounces between being dead easy - a joy, and wanting to launch myself out the 3rd floor velux with very little middle ground and even less sleep.

First week of work down after paternity leave!

Wow imagine some people have to do this with twins or triplets. I think I’d have had a breakdown 😂

Just signed up for the Robin Hood half this autumn!
jshmtn.bsky.social
Interesting. Certainly like the idea of going away that same day to use it. What sort of things have you encouraged them to try?
jshmtn.bsky.social
Similar structure to what we do. What do you think has made your staff so receptive to it and what advice would you give if someone was starting it new?

What does this look like Will if you don’t mind me Asking?

People complaining about council putting the fine up for littering ‘ooh it’s high in cost of living’

Idiots.

It’s not compulsory!!!

You don’t have to pay it. Just don’t be a massive tramp. Pocket your litter and take it home.
