It's a sign that things are changing that Dems are now circulating strategy memos saying they can take this issue on directly.
This is striking: New Senate Majority PAC poll finds that GOP's advantage on immigration has been wiped out by unpopularity of Trump's agenda. Dems now at parity with Republicans.

This is a Dem poll but it dovetails with what other polls are showing (see piece/thread below)

How the Democrats Can Play Offense on Immigration
Typically, Democrats run for the hills when immigration comes up. But as two blue-state governors are showing, the winning play is actually to confront ICE and MAGA xenophobia head on.

Great stuff here from @gregsargent.bsky.social.
The extraordinary courage of people who are documenting ICE atrocities in places like Minneapolis, at great personal risk, are also achieving something else: They're changing the public's mind about immigration. We have a rare opportunity here. 1/

More than 400 people, including hundreds of citizens, were “sorted” at gun point into racial and ethnic groups by 200 ICE agents who fired flash-bang grenades into cars with people inside, pointed guns at children & demanded their zip tied parents not comfort them. apple.news/Ausdx6kWtT0e...

I'm publishing it anyway-- about my family's connection to a sword the British looted from Ghana in 1874.

There is a major political organization allied with the president that got so mad a Latino artist was tapped to play at the Super Bowl they made a whole alternative show. We should all take a moment to reflect on that. It is so blatantly racist.

We have to educate people about why government is the ultimate life hack, and that government must listen to them also.

The big thing we have going for us, however, is that while people can be tricked into voting for anti-democratic candidates like Trump was in 2024, people don't like totalitarianism.

Ironically, dictators need popular support to implement dictatorship. This is why I said fascism is a state of mind.
