but the lack of feelings has me contemplative. I have a complex relationship with CStat - rooted in conservative upbringing and strained relationship with the parents. The coming move to Seattle meant this was a true goodbye to that chapter, and I am okay with that. With @willbeason.bsky.social

Today, I took a trip to my childhood hometown of College Station to check out sine potential items for wedding decor that a friend graciously offered. I hadn't been there in almost 8 years since my parents passed. I'm not sure it evoked feelings of memory or loss, 1/2

I haven't been as good at reading like I used to be, but I am now reading the first Stormlight book, Way of Kings. I joke that it is my homework because Will is weaving elements from the first 3 books into his vows. So 82 pages down out of 3000, and 80 days to finish! 36 pages a day seems doable.

From the cliffs around Dunnotar Castle you could also see the Stonehaven War Memorial honoring those who died in WWI and WWII.

In the waters around the rock a Scottish coast guard ship was searching. We never discovered what happened other than that the individual in distress was from London. Kyle tried to find news reports, but only came across reports of similar incidents over the years. 4/5

distance the ruins can be accessed by taking a steep staircase down to the beach and then a steep staircase up the side of the rock. Fun fact: when we were there we encountered EMS and an incident response team on the mainland as paramedics raced with a stretcher to the stairs. 3/5

Dunnotar has a long history tracing from the Picts around 5000 BC. The ruins of the fortress Dunnotar date back to 1392, though it was built around the ruins of a chapel built in 1276. The fortress and its building served as inspiration for the movie Brave. While we admired from across a 2/5

For today's Sojourn Sunday we have a different trek. Today, @willbeason.bsky.social participated in a cancer research fundraiser running the stairs (852 steps, 91 flights) on the outside of the SpaceNeedle in Seattle. He performed awesomely and I couldn't be prouder of his accomplishment.
