PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD!!

The University of Texas-Austin is beginning a process to eliminate the Black Studies, Latino Studies, and Gender Studies departments in the College of Liberal Arts. This is a grave threat to the educational liberty of students, faculty, staff, and the people of Texas. 1/

Apparently Dallin Oaks is finally getting his shot on the throne of the LDS church. Expect regression on LGBTQ topics from this man who oversaw the electroshock torture of gay men at BYU and spearheaded the vile Proclamation on the Family. May his reign be brief.

Arabic Studies, Holocaust Studies, Russian, Eastern European & Eurasian Studies, Religion, & more—decimating the humanities destroys our ability to understand the world, act in it, and envision a future. Blue states are complicit in this destruction of scholarship and teaching

As I ponder a move to Canada, I've thought about life in exile and Gonzalo Rojas came to mind. I studied with him at BYU where he lived in exile before the return of democracy to Chile. I am awed by his capacity to retain his sensitivity and fervor for life in the face of state brutality and loss.

Mike Lee’s reprehensible behavior and comments on MN and so many other things are not just about Lee, they are a reflection of the lack of moral character of every voter in UT who put him there, & every cowardly Republican colleague and the Mormon Church who refuse to say a word.

I miss teaching my food and ethnic identity class, I would love to explore yesterday's Trader Joe visit with students. The store was blasting a "Cinco de mayo" playlist (mostly rancheras). There is a fine line between celebration and tokenization and they were on the wrong side of it for me.

I'm experimenting with trolling (on my own page) on Fb before I burn it all down. Latest musing is basically this: If all y'all wanted a king, you could do much, much better because no current European monarch is as despotic and lacking in taste.

My biggest jump scare this week: Hegseth mentioning the Overton window. His comment reflected poor understanding of the concept but it reveals that cabinet-level officials are knowingly softening the public to accept greater atrocity from an increasingly authoritarian regime. Chilling.

Lapses in worldwide TB prevention and treatment may hit closer than you think! In another life I was an LDS missionary who came home from MX with a latent TB infection that was halted due to community-based, no-cost screening and treatment. Don't let the regime's stupidity endanger more people.
Today March 24 is World Tuberculosis Day and this year it's more urgent than ever. #USAID helped treat 17 million people with TB around the world. But now? Medications stopped, clinics closed and TB is spreading. #RestoreUSAID #EndTB #WorldTBDay #USAIDSavesLives

Cheery film promos might seem frivolous next to posts describing the escalating cruelty and lawlessness of the felonious president and his handlers. Tag! believes that telling our stories and celebrating our lives is anything but trivial. It is resistance. Join us at this year's festival. tagqsf.org
