Something different from my usual face-only portrait. I love some extreme foreshortening, so the reference photo I drew this from automatically attracted me to it! (Side note: That checkerboard pattern on the Vans nearly did me in! 😂)

One of my favs from “Beyond the Gates,” the great Clifton Davis who plays patriarch, Vernon Dupree. I’ve watched this show from day 1 and it’s only getting better and better! (And I’ve loved Clifton from his “Amen” days!)

Back to Knots Landing with probably my favorite male character, Greg Sumner, played by William Devane. Greg is one of those wonderfully complex characters that I love—neither entirely good nor completely bad, but rather a mix of both.

I decided to challenge myself by trying to capture #PresidentObama in colored pencil, which is not my usual medium of choice. While not completely thrilled with the outcome, I’m proud I pushed through & kept adding layers of color instead of giving up in the super-ugly stage.

When I saw the ad of the Ineos Grenadier that I drew this from, I knew I had to give it a try. Even though this is far from realistic (especially the vehicle), I had the best time scribbling away at it. Just when I thought I was done, I’d do more. But I finally decided to call it finished!

Back to the cul-de-sac of Knots Landing. Here we have “Sweet Pea” herself, Valene Ewing—otherwise known as “poor Val.” I think she was more like “resilient Val” because of all she went through & came out stronger on the other side!

Another Knots Landing rendering. I’ve reached s9 in my rewatch which is when the character of Frank Williams arrived on the cul-de-sac. (I always liked his round glasses.) During his time on Knots, actor Larry Riley was diagnosed with HIV and wound up passing from AIDS-related kidney failure.

Continuing my Knots Landing portraits, this is “somewhat” Ted Shackelford. Gary could be infuriating as can be (as so many of them were!), but he was also one of my favorite characters. His goofy laugh always made me smile! Used the 6B pencil brush & chalk brush for this one.
