Secretly I believe that @citycastnash.bsky.social won Best Podcast & Best Way To Keep Up With Local Politics because of Furball Friday!

Listen to the message from @annymoliva.bsky.social and get involved.
Homelessness will increase if we do not fight against further cuts. We know what solutions work. We also know that shifting the course now will destroy progress and more people will lose their housing.

Without zoning changes, the US - and Nashville - cannot tackle the affordable housing crisis.

Yet, as with so many issues, it's not as simple as being for or against something. Listen to @citycastnash.bsky.social, and don't forget, density won't happen without a property owner's agreement.

What happens when constituents and councilmembers clash over solutions to Nashville’s housing crisis? On today’s podcast, Jamie Agin from 16th United and CM Rollin Horton share their differing perspectives on upzoning, density, and neighborhood character. This convo isn’t going away any time soon:

Lilly is a three-year old Bernese Mountain Dog. She is enthusiastically happy. Lilly likes going on walks as long as they remain under half a mile. She does not care about personal space or boundaries.
Here you see her after she jumped on the coffee table to try to get my attention. She won.

Furball Friday is my new tradition to the weekend!

Bennett is beautiful and reminds me of my own furball, Lilly (see her pic in my comment).

I'm saving this for my walk later today. But October is the best month in fall. The flowers are blooming, the sun is still nice and warm, the mornings are crisp and fresh...
...let's hear what else is going on.

Local communities (CoC's) should get together (if they have not done so yet) and examine how many local resources they can shift from temporary to permanent housing. Then use the federal dollars to pay for temporary beds/programs.

But rural communities often have hardly any local $s to do this.
judytacketttn.bsky.social
"Currently, 87 percent of all CoC program funds ending in 2026 are slated to support permanent housing in some capacity. Under the policy change, only 30 percent of the funds will be allowed to be used for that purpose."

An expected 170,000 are in danger of losing their housing.

Nope.
No comparison since my option is an out-of-towner version. I prefer all your options that include biking and walking with dogs!

It was great fun listening to y'all!

Stop at McKay's ($7.50), then head over to Gas Lamp Antiques in South Nashville (under $10), have a late lunch and read the book purchased at McKay's at Red Bicycle on Nolensville (under $20), buy some bottled water, and end the day with Shakespeare in the Park (tip with the remaining dollars).

I'm starting out in Ashland City...

I'll stop for Coffee & Sausage-Egg Bisquit from Lewis Country Store (it's under $7 and also no longer under Nazi occupation), then go for a walk at Brookmeade Park (no person ever uses it now that it's reclaimed), alternatively: Warner Parks.

OK, @citycastnash.bsky.social! You nearly made me miss my phone call with my Mom today because I forgot the time while listening to today's episode.

Here is how I would spend my $50-Nashville day. I won't limit myself to one area, and I'll drive my hybrid.

It’s easy for those of us who have never been homeless to celebrate someone getting housed. We breathe a sigh of relief and then stare in disbelief when things don’t go smoothly. Today, we sit down with those who have gone through the housing process to talk about barriers that remain – and
