🇫🇷 #France updated its travel advisory to 🇲🇬 #Madagascar.

🚩 It now recommends sheltering in place due to the “ongoing events in Antananarivo,” coming after a similar 🇺🇸 #US alert.

That's three days after lifting its advisory to avoid non-essential travel.. quite a contrast.

The 🇺🇸 #US Embassy in 🇲🇬 #Madagascar has issued a new alert, strongly advising US citizens to shelter in place due to reports that "the gendarmerie and military have exchanged gunfire (...) and that some factions of the security forces have joined the protests".

Refreshed yesterday after 🇲🇱 #Mali turned fully red, following the inclusion of Bamako in the red zone (🔴 “advise against all travel” level).

🚩 L’ensemble du pays est désormais classé en rouge : tout voyage y est fortement déconseillé.

Bamako, qui était jusqu’à présent la seule zone encore orange, est désormais incluse en zone rouge.

🇳🇱 The #Netherlands now advises against all but essential travel to 🇲🇬 #Madagascar due to ongoing protests, looting, and violence.

This level of risk means that many Dutch insurers will adjust their travel insurance policies, with certain costs and incidents no longer covered.

🇦🇹 #Austria updated its travel advisory to 🇨🇮 #CotedIvoire.

🚩 It now advises against travel to the northeast areas (Comoé Park & Bouna).

This is in addition to warnings already in place for “criminal & terrorist activities” in western & northwestern border areas.

This is due to the "protests and violent disorder" that have taken place in the country.

🟧 The entire country is now at Level 3 (of 4), in the Reconsider Travel category, due to crime and civil unrest.

🚩 It now strongly advises against using all main routes toward 🇲🇱 #Mali.

The advisory previously recommended accessing Mali by road only via 🇸🇳 #Senegal. This has now been removed.

🇺🇸 #US Secretary of State Marco Rubio released a press statement congratulating 🇲🇱 #Mali on its 65th Independence Day, praising its "resilience and determination in standing up to terrorism", & reaffirming US commitment to "advance mutual commercial opportunities and interests".

🚩 Non-essential travel to northern border areas with 🇧🇫 #BurkinaFaso, 🇹🇬 #Togo, and 🇨🇮 #CôtedIvoire is now discouraged.

This is due to the presence of criminal & armed groups, and recurring local clashes.

🇳🇴 #Norway has updated its travel advisory for 🇲🇱 #Mali, now discouraging all travel, including to the capital, Bamako 🟥.

Previously, Bamako had been exempt, with essential travel still permitted.

👉Before: only Kinshasa, Haut-Katanga & Lualaba were orange ("essential travel only").

👉Now: several more regions downgraded from red ("no travel").

🚩 It now specifies that "several terrorist groups operate in neighbouring Burkina Faso near to Ghana’s northern border" & "in the northern region of Togo, which borders Ghana to the east".

Map remains unchanged.

🚩 It recommends to avoid Bamako’s city center.

🇩🇪 #Germany updated its travel advisory for 🇧🇫 #BurkinaFaso.

🚩 The advisory, which already urged to avoid military sites, now also recommends not to stay near police facilities.

It also warns of possible arbitrary arrests, detentions & interrogations on suspicion of espionage.

The 🇨🇳 #Chinese embassy in 🇲🇱 #Mali has urged its citizens and companies to "further strengthen security precautions."

It notes that the security situation in Mali remains "severe and complex," citing the terrorist claims to block the Kayes–Bamako and Ségou–Bamako highways.

The 🇬🇧 #UnitedKingdom now "advises against all travel to 🇲🇱 #Mali, except for within 15km of the Tower of Africa located in Bamako".

🚩 This due to "the risk of terrorist attacks and kidnaps".

The area within 25km of Bamako was formerly considered an orange zone.
