I didn't plan on birthing another OC but here he is! Meet Adrian, the cutie you saw on my previous post getting splashed.
His setting is in a modern world like ours, except he's a merfolk descendant.
His surname Lan means "blue", and Adrian means 'from the sea'

Swordtember Day 26 - Harpy

Ritual Sword depicting the Miroksi Harpy Goddess

#Swordtember2025 #Swordtember #ConceptArt #Lore
A bronze sword painted on old paper. there is text, it reads:
26. Harpy

Ritual Sword depicting the Miroksi Harpy Goddess

When the Orkish peoples fled their ancient homeland to escape the destruction of the Sea King Nepatharon, they were not only joined by the last of the Iremeians but also seperate and culturally distinct group of more diminutive Orkish folk: the Miroks, colliqioully (and derisively) known as “goblins”.

While the Orkish people commonly reach statures taller than even the tallest human man and find gaining muscle mass to be incredibly easy, the only physical trait the Miroks outwardly share with their Orkish cousins is the greenish hue of their skin and their slightly pointed ears. Their smaller stature makes them easy for the Orkish people to physically dominate and a massive proportion of the slave populations of both modern day Prasinos and Ipeiros consists of Miroksi people.

Miroks have their own culture and religious beliefs, distinct from the Orks. While the Orkish peoples almost exclusively worship a Bull-headed Warrior God, the Miroks worship a small pantheon headed by a Harpy-like Goddess. Miroksi religious practices are barely tolerated in Orkish lands and so Miroksi religious rituals are often forced into secret. This ritual sword representing the Harpy Goddess, is used in various secret Miroksi rites. Harpy - a heavily patinaed bronze sword. the handle is stylised to look like a harpy with wings outstreched. She is decorated with several crescent moon motifs.

Another four days of #Swordtember down!!
Bloom - a super art nouveau sword made of greenish metal. the crossguard is decorated with pale sapphires and silver lillies. There is another silver lily on the pommel and the grip is decorated with lily leaves. Rot - an ancient gladius type blade. Its really rusted and the blade has such extreme corrosion on it that it has massive holes in it. Lace - on old paper, a painting of a sword. It is made of a greenish metal with a damascus steel looking pattern on it. the grip is made of two intertwined pieces of metal and the crossguard has two eye icons on it. The crossguard extends down onto the blade with a section that has some fantasy script on it. The blade is constructed out of essentially metal lace: it has numerous interlocking bits with many empty areas between them. Carved - A blade carved of reddish marble. its hilt is highly stylised and features a Minotaur with a solar disk between his horns. The cross guard is made of two bull heads. the "blade" has a bas relief of a minotaur fighting with a snake. the snake looks like it has a sun coming out of its mouth.

Swordtember Day 18 - Beetle

Siwari Wing Blade

#Swordtember2025 #Swordtember #ConceptArt #Lore
painting of a sword on old paper. There is text, it reads:
18. Beetle

Siwari Wing Blade

Made from scavenged wing cases and wings of a large beetle native to the Bluestone Desert, the sharp wing is fused with a metal hilt using esoteric rituals understood only by the Yarerin clan of Viðezel, the House of Smiths.

These wing blades are often employed by members of the Siwari, guardians who patrol the vast deserts of Yarezel deterring any outsiders from venturing too close to the few remaining Elven cities. The Siwari also guard shipments of Bluestone for the Blue Hand Syndicate - the only organisation that sells Bluestone to the rest of the known world… Beetle - a slightly curved blade. the hand guard is made of an irridescent beetle wing casing and the pommel is topped with the end of a beetle's foot. the blade begins as golden metal and merges into a thin blue beetles wing.

Swordtember Day 19 - Membrane

Zith Yeiyden al Netherin (Netherin Grown Blade)

#Swordtember2025 #Swordtember #ConceptArt #Lore
painting of a boney sword on old paper. there is text, it reads:
19. Membrane

Zith Yeiyden al Netherin (Netherin Grown Blade)

The Netherin, the ancient dark elves of the Northern wastes, concocted many cruel and strange weapons during their long war against their Southern cousins, the Yarerin, Isherin and Viðerin. One such creation was this form of boney membrounous blade. Constructed using dark rites and materials gathered from questionable sources - tales from escaped captives of the Netherin imply that the blades are crafted from flesh and bone harvested from living prisoners. The membrane that forms its blade is so fine and so strong it functions as an incredibly effective sword.

These strange swords were typically “grown” by the Netherin clan known as the Aesharon al Veiafirel (the House of Weavers), a non-familial clan of skilled sorcerers and keepers of dark esoteric knowledge. The clan, and all of their dark rituals are thought to have been completely destroyed at the end of the Dark War. Membrane - a sword with the hilt, grip, pommel and central part of the sword blade are made of what appears to be bone, the blade is made of a dark skin-like membranous material.

Swordtember Day 20 - Vapour

Prop Sword of Tavolian Players

#Swordtember2025 #Swordtember #ConceptArt #Lore
a rusty sword painted on old paper. There is text, it reads:
20. Vapour

Prop Sword of Tavolian Players

This prop blade contains a canister in its hilt and a small pipe that releases a cloud of vapour from the tip of the blade and is used in plays celebrating the hagiography of St Daniel of Thester. *This* sword has been used in many plays and the vapours released have begun to rust the blade.

Due to the somewhat heretical status of St Daniel, it is unwise to perform such plays in the company of Orthodox Lirrans…

Not long after the Archcrown annexed Tavor, a local priest of Lir, Father Melior Daniel of Thester, wrote a treatise detailing his philosophies regarding Holy Water: he asserted that steam and vapour created from liquid water drawn from the River Lir should also be considered holy and therefore could be used in various Lirran cleansing rites. His ideas were adopted by Tavolian independance movement who reportedly used steam to torture their captives.

Local legends tell of a holy sword granted to St Daniel by the Goddess that could exude Holy steam with which he led a rebellion against the Archcrown. Tavolian Lirrans have since adopted Father Melior Daniel as a Saint of Lir, however is canonisation is not recognised by the Choir due to his association with the Tavolian Independance movement. Vapour - A rusty steel sword with a wavy design on its blade. its gaurd is stylised with two eyes on either side of the grip. there is a little canister and thin pipes. two pipes go towards the eyes on the gaurd and the third goes right down to the tip of the blade.

Swordtember Day 21 - Ring

The Shape of the World - Ancient Astronomer Relic Sword

#Swordtember2025 #Swordtember #ConceptArt #Lore
Painted on old paper, a tarnished gold sword. There is text, it reads:
21. Ring

The Shape of the World - Ancient Astronomer Relic Sword

The Astronomers, as they are now called, were once a powerful group of Dwarvish folk who long ago lived in the Southern Land that they called Sud Ech. Unlike their Northern cousins who worshipped a pantheon ruled by the Mountain King and lived deep under the mountains, the Astronomers made their home on the very peaks of the mountains and worshipped the Sky Queen from their Observatory Temples.

The Astronomer’s entire civilisation was almost completely destroyed during the War of the Sea when their entire continent was sunk beneath the waves by the vengeful Sea King. All that remains of their once powerful society is a small and often opressed diaspora who eek out a living among the Mountain Dwarves of the North.

Few artefacts from the Astronomer’s heyday remain in the current age, this sword being one of them. It was likely ceremonial and contains an orrery in it’s hilt - a testament to the fact that the Astronomers understood the shape of the world better than any other civilisation - even better than the Yarerin Elves. Though modern scholars still debate this, the existence of this sword asserts that the world is in fact a Great Ring… Ring - a vaguely organic tarnished golden sword. There is a circular hole in the crossguard in which there is an orrery.

Swordtember Day 22 - Swan

Sword gifted to the Heir of Silver Lake

#Swordtember2025 #Swordtember #ConceptArt #Lore
a golden sword in the shape of a swan on old paper. There is text, it 22. Swan

Sword gifted to the Heir of Silver Lake

House Orolon has ruled over the Whiteholm since the end of the War of the Sea when the Lirrans settled in the River that their Goddess had created and subsequently *become*. They control the entirety of the tributary known as Leda - one of the two largest triburtaries in the Cymonean Vale, the other being the Idamersa, the domain of House Illain. In fact, the two houses, Illain and Orolon initially fought fiercely for control over the entire region, though House Illain eventually prevail, with House Orolon swearing fealty to their rival in the 302nd Year of the River

The valley that Leda runs through is home to a population of beautiful white swans, which have come to be associated with both the region and its ruling House. It was in fact during the early days of the conflict against House Illain that House Orolon adopted the Swan as their sigil.

This particular blade was commissioned by Lord Siegmund Orolon, Lord of Whiteholm and the Silver Lake, from the famous blacksmith, Elthander of Emminvale, for his son Lord Siegfried Orolon. It features the swan sigil of their house, rendered in fantastical detail by the incredibly skilled craftsman. Swan - a golden sword. the cross guard resembles the body of a swan with the tail going down into the tail and becoming the fuller. The neck of the swan is the grip and its head is the pommel

Swordtember Day 23 - Owl

Sword made for the Lord Argenton of Brightwater

#Swordtember2025 #Swordtember #ConceptArt #Lore
A steel sword painted on old paper. There is text, it reads:
23. Owl

Sword made for the Lord Argenton of Brightwater

The white fishing owl can be found all throughout the Midnight Valley but has always had special significance to the people of the Hold of Brightwater. The tributary of Lir that they live by and worship, the River Aereth is believed to be the embodiment of an aspect of the Goddess Lir called the Bright Lady, always represented accompanied by one of the local white fishing owls.

The fishing owl represents careful planning and cunning; a successful hunt. It was long ago, mere decades after the founding of the River Realms and the creation of the River itself that the descendants of the Lord Captain of the Screaming Nymph adopted the fishing owl as their sigil.

This sword was made by the famous blacksmith, Elthander of Emminvale for Lord Elriel Argenton and has since been inherited by his heir, the Lady Eline Argenton. Owl - a steel sword. the handle is carved to look like fish swimming through water and this carving blends into the blade with the water becoming the fuller. The guard is fashioned to look like two mirrored owls each catching one of the fish. The pommel is shaped like an egg

Swordtember Day 24 - Venom

Envenomed Blade of Archprincess Liagria of the Lilies

#Swordtember2025 #Swordtember #ConceptArt #Lore
On old paper, a painting of a greenish hued short sword. There is text, it reads:

24. Venom

Envenomed Blade of Archprincess Liagria of the Lilies

The Archcrown has long been supported by a quasi-religious order of (mostly) women of noble birth trained in various clandestine arts named the Daughters of the Lily. This support ranges from assassinations to covert missions to foreign courts. Daughters of the Lily are often assigned as innocent seeming ladies-in-waiting to members of the Archroyal family but double as skilled bodyguards.

This order was founded by the Archprincess Liagria of the Lilies, who had learned the ways of shortsword and dagger and had an extensive knowledge of poisons. These techniques would be passed on from noble mother to daughter over many generations.

Archprincess Liagria is credited amongst the Daughter of the Lilies with the assassination of her brother, the Archking Liagrius II. Liagrius II had been a violent and capricious man and in the eyes of many at the time, would have been a disaster for the still relitively new Llameryn-Leolinius Dynasty. Her fratricide cleared the path for her brother, Clovis I, to become Archking (at that early time, women were not yet able to inherit the Archcrown).

Daughters of the Lily assert that the assassination was carried out with this very envenomed blade and often base the designs for their own blades on it. Venom - a very thin shortsword. the grip is fashioned to look like a lily with a snake wrapping around it. the snake's head ends on the blade and its tail goes up the grip and ends up wrapping around the pommel which is fashioned to look like a lily about to bloom. there is a dark ichor dripping down the blade.
