game dev and its ups and downs have admittedly made me so jaded over the last decade, and I’m tired of the self loathing that’s grown over the joys I used to partake in. kicking that shit to the curb is first on my goals list. I’m letting go as best as I can.

it feels nice that I can sense ambitions flow through me again after so long, but at the same time I’m frightened by it. I have some lofty goals that I’m excited to share with you guys over the coming months, and I’m hoping this new adventure brings me back to loving this part of me like I used to

Watch this be some weird placebo effect haha 😭 At the very least I do think each of their newest brushes were fine tuned in every aspect and the fact that there’s just so many packed in with the app itself now, this is going to be fun to explore over the coming days

I’ve been struggling with something feeling ever so slightly off with drawing on my iPad for ages, but yesterday I was finally able to finish a piece of artwork with little hesitation due to the perceived better flow of how the brushes feel after the latest update. I feel so motivated again

The newest Procreate update did something brilliant enough with their new brush sets that’s made drawing on my iPad feel so smooth and closer to how I imagine certain brush types to feel irl, I swear. Did they fine tune their brush engine? Tilt and pressure settings feel more correct than before!

The big picture feels mostly accounted for, but there’s a lot of micro plays I’m learning the nuance of every single day I pick up a session. I still need to play more Bay and Grounds though, I await the day where they don’t have button-mashy comps for my old hands 🧓

I’ve learned my spawn groups, the timing of the switches between them feel instinctual to handle depending on the hazard, knowing when to deploy certain specials for clearance/static removal/etc feels natural to send out, waiting out static cycles if it favors luring in bosses, it all feels baked in

Some teams feel fully optimal where I can comfortably boss slay and find down time to deposit eggs, other teams I might have to offer more help with boss slaying while giving up run time for eggs, other teams I feel like I lock up, + I end up hesitating on my decisions for reasons hard to articulate

There are a few decision-making skills that I’m trying to hone in still. I can pinpoint when a change of pace was because of me or a teammate’s decision, or a mixture of both, there’s a different rhythm with each team I play with

I’m really happy with my overfishing progress lately. When I first started, my egg depositing averages were in the 40s for one shift, lately the numbers have been rising to 50s-60s for the games where I feel most consistent. I’m still fine tuning the rhythm of egg depositing vs boss slaying though
