The JusTACE project were delighted to attend the BioDirect 2.0 Agricultural industry round table this week in AgTech UCD Lyons farm. This all Ireland innovation initiative is designed to accelerate the adoption of bio-based projects in a number of industries, including agriculture.

By working closely with stakeholders through a Living Labs approach, we aim to deliver actionable insights that will shape policies, empower communities, and drive real-world impact.

The project will develop innovative frameworks and indicators to guide just transitions in Ireland’s agri-food sector, addressing socio-economic vulnerabilities, gender inequalities, and biodiversity challenges.

Together, we’ll focus on ensuring that the shift to a circular bioeconomy is not only environmentally sustainable but also socially equitable—placing communities and stakeholders at the heart of this transition.

Led by Dr. Jennifer Attard (MTU), the project brings together an expert team including Robert Ludgate, Simon Patterson, & Dave Barry (MTU), Dr. Anushree Priyadarshini (MU), Dr. Luke Kelleher (UCD), and Dr Gaurav Rajauria (UCC).

We’re excited to announce that the JusTACE research project (Just Transition for Agriculture in the Circular Bioeconomy) has been awarded funding under the EPA Research Programme 2030, supporting Ireland’s transition to a sustainable and inclusive circular bioeconomy. 🎉
