GNIGHT, SARA / ‘NIGHT, HECK
By Justine Castellon and Mike Dee

Sara and Heck's story begins with a chance meeting at Tribeca Trickle, a cozy New York City café. This serendipitous encounter weaves their destinies together, creating a sanctuary where they can be their true selves.

Much as I’m partial to the original novel over its film adaptation, when it comes to a #GossipGirl spinoff, I’d rather see it on TV or film with the original cast. Catching up with them 20 years later.

The evil, petty writer in me puts everyone who annoys me straight into my novel, immortalizing them as hideous, revolting creatures: the pimple-popping, missing-tooth types who drool every time they open their mouths. Ahh…art is healing. 😈

While prepping the #questpit materials, I stepped outside my work area. The sun is out, everything is green, and it turns out that sometimes the best thing to do is absolutely nothing….. just appreciating what’s around you is enough.

Done with the characters’ dossier, storyline, and setting for the new novel. Yes, I’m back with dual POV, and I cannot wait to spar with this brilliant writer who’ll handle the dark side of Jack in “Bye, Jack!”, based on my short story.

Up way too early, hungry, air-fried nuggets, and being judged by my cat.

Time to open my manuscript. Fair warning, this moment may be immortalized in fiction. #authorslife

From a #marketing standpoint:

DO NOT offer your book for free or price it too low. Consumers are always looking for value, and they often perceive free or cheap goods as having little to no worth.

Your first draft doesn’t have to be perfect, it just has to exist. Edit later; for now, let the words flow. Remember: you can’t edit a blank page. Write now, worry later. ✍️

“Don’t ask anyone to write your story — self publish! Put your art and words on a coffee bag. But do get an editor’s.” — Roosroast Coffee

This is definitely the coffee beans for writers and artists ☕️🫘

Back in the ’90s, Scott Adams was one of us: cubicle-bound, fluorescent-lit, surviving bad meetings and worse bosses. Out of that grind came Dilbert: razor-sharp wit and painfully spot-on office life. We laughed because it was true.

Choosing self-publishing for full control? Don’t cut corners. Hire a great editor, a creative team for cover and layout, a solid printer, and international distributors.

I was so tempted to buy these first-edition volumes of Mrs. Browning’s poems for $500. I ended up leaving the bookstore in a hurry before I could swipe my card…. but jeez, they’re gorgeous!

Bullies feed on attention, which is why ignoring them works, but sometimes calling them out and exposing the bluff matters too.

To my writer and author friends 📚✍️: writing is a lonely journey, and there are many moments when we’re tempted to give up halfway through. But we owe it—to our readers and to our calling—to help build a community that encourages our children to keep reading.
