TASK was really excellent from start to finish. HBO and Brad Inglesby, please give us a new Philly dirtbag crime drama every couple years. But what really struck me about the show was its humanity and spirituality, and how much it cared about its characters. Ruffalo is amazing.
There’s a place for every kind of doc. Easy top 10 of all time example is THE THIN BLUE LINE, which reenacts events (one of the first to do so). But every time I’ll take the observational doc.
Any documentary that is observational—just a camera following its subjects—is always better to me than a typical talking head doc. THE PERFECT NEIGHBOR does this with existing police bodycam footage, and it’s the best doc I’ve seen in a long time.
If I did my top 10 films of 2025 right now.

10) EDDINGTON
9) FRIENDSHIP
8) FINAL DESTINATION: BLOODLINES
7) THE MONKEY
6) SHE RIDES SHOTGUN
5) DANGEROUS ANIMALS
4) THE PERFECT NEIGHBOR
3) 28 YEARS LATER
2) WEAPONS
1) ONE BATTLE AFTER ANOTHER
Okay, this one is a little scary.
Biggest protest I’ve ever been to.
Look at these scary Antifa at Dekalb No Kings.
And makes it even sadder for me—beyond the obvious racial component—is that this was all over a neighborhood of kids who still like playing outside, like everyone did when I was growing up.
Movie 102 of 2025: THE PERFECT NEIGHBOR

The rare incredible Netflix documentary. It chronicles through police bodycam footage (and then interrogation room footage) rising tensions between an old Karen and basically everyone else on her block. Heartbreaking, gut-wrenching, and essential.

Game 17 of 2025: DRAGON QUEST III HD-2D REMAKE

Breathes new life into an old NES game. In fact, I find it hard to believe an RPG this epic ever existed in that era. Awesome game!

Game 16 of 2025: CRONOS: THE NEW DAWN

Equal parts brilliant and frustrating. Excellent music and atmosphere. Mind-bending level design. High concentration of enemies that makes the combat exhausting. And the game is too damn dark to see anything!

The game has been entertaining at the very least. Bears are fucked lol
Dude, still thinking about last night’s TASK. So fucking good. Now they just have to stick the landing.
I want a new Viva Piñata. Microsoft doesn’t understand what the people demand.
Yeah, in its penultimate episode, I feel TASK may have surpassed THE PITT for show of the year. All the humanity of that show wrapped in a gripping, slow burn crime drama that feels like a novel.
That pre-title sequence on the new TASK might be the best TV of the year. Absolutely fucking insane.
Perhaps my number one old man trait is I watch 60 MINUTES and think it’s a great news program, and I worry it’s about to fall apart.
I *could* have gone but just the thought of getting off work and riding the train 2 hours to Chicago and back and then having to work in the morning was too much. I st least made my money back. (Should have made profit, but fees.)
Sold my David Byrne tickets cause it was all the way down at the lake on a school night in Chicago. Pour one out for my bucket list.
Next administration should not only abolish ICE but investigate and charge agents for their crimes.
Just got the elevating shoes in DQIII, which might just be the coolest piece of gear in an RPG ever.
