I seem to recall the lobby journalists portraying themselves as brave fights of racism during the Corbyn years, no?
Not a peep from the Lobby who all portrayed themselves as bastions of anti racism during the Corbyn era if I recall correctly
Aren’t the police here just predicting there might be violent clashes here given the club has a notoriously right wing racist fan base and pro-Israeli feeling in Birmingham is unlikely to be strong. There will be two groups looking for trouble so better to spare everyone the grief and hassle
It’s happened to Legia Warsaw, Eintracht Frankfurt and Ajax and everyone is pretending this is unprecedented
If fans from Red Star Belgrade were banned, do you think Starmer would intervene?
Just a completely bizarre bill to die on though. And only doing so because the press are screaming at them
If Apartheid were still in force in South Africa, I think police would probably put a ban on away fans at Twickenham if there was a touring South Africa rugby team, no?
A ban on which the public is fairly evenly divided too! Aren’t they just incapable of ignoring whatever the latest Lobby outrage is?
The US is a country where the South holds vast electoral sway and yet is an area that had to be forcibly dragged kicking and screaming by the Supreme Court into the civilised world. There is literally no equivalent in the UK
When did it become acceptable to casually refer to people as third worlders?
These guys live in another world . If I said it would be great if a brown colleague were deported, I’d be sacked on the spot. Labour could of course stop talking to the Express and GB News.
Calgie has said something so awful on the other place that even Bridget Philipson has spoken out!
Is this Elites or is this Parliament/the press? I wager to suggest that if you did the same survey in an investment bank or corporate law firm it would be more aligned with the public than parliament…
There are a not insignificant number of idiots/bigots in the anti-Israel movement, but that was also true of protests against the Iraq War and Apartheid, and yet those protestors were ultiamtely proven correct.
I will say for Polanksi that, unlike Corbyn, he doesn't appear to get very irritable under the most banal questioning, and so may appear less threatening to the electorate in that sense.
Frankly, the Labour Party deserve to be made extinct by the Lib Dems and Greens. They are so contemptuous of their actual voters.
Isn't the difference that appeasement was always viewed as a mistake post-45 and having backed it prevented progress in the Tories. Whereas Brexit is the reverse, it is viewed as a mistake by most of the population, but Tories backing it remains a pre-requisite for internal party progression.
Supermarkets are not greedy - the margins for supermarkets are incredibly low (inlcuding by reference to peer countries), and it's an extremely price competitive sector.
Have the Tories not realised their new voter base is terrible for their desired policies, as well as making them socially miserable?!
Isn’t that just quite clever marketing though? Just like Cameron presenting as harmless Boden Dad while undertaking massive cuts to the state. It’s what the Tories would do now if they had any sense but Kemi and Bobby J are too stupid and unsophisticated to do it
I don’t think being hawkish on China is a barrier to being one nation though?
I feel like political debate would be wildly improved if people (including Labour) ceased to take the likes of Calgie seriously. Labour seem to think that they owe Calgie, H Cole and GB News a hearing - they don’t, and will never be rewarded for indulging them anyway.
Powell seems to be getting the Hermer treatment, and it's not clear why he's now such a source of irritation to the Right. Although interesting that they're both two of the more profesionally succesfful people in Starmer's circle.
Not really sure why you'd put it to 60% - putting it up to 60% means putting it up to almost 70% for any post-2012 graduates (the vast majority of whom voted for Labour!).
