In this article, Nichole Bauer finds that strong partisans with high levels of sexism exhibit higher levels of ambivalence toward Democratic and Republican women candidates. These ambivalent attitudes were especially strong in 2016 where voters had more ambivalence about Clinton relative to Trump.
