Im travelling very late at night and finding that for a lot of niche things, like a place open late at night nearby where I can stay and wait for my train when the station open, GPT5 Thinking is not as good as just asking a person nearby who seems to work in the area and has a high vis vest.

my suspicion is that if video games significantly lead to violence, it's largely due to it being an isolating activity which can lead to having less people around you, less social skills, less success, more bitterness, etc. but i might expect something similar from things like reading fiction a lot

and then do a similar thing for social media usage growth.
i think something important to keep in mind would be how the numbers for violence/crimes are measured/reported in each area, how they could differ, be biased, etc

I think we could measure this by tracking the rate of increases in violence among children in areas in the 90s and early 2000s in similar demographics and areas, compare the ones with more/less video game sales - obv, do some std dev type stuff (sorry, bad at math atm).

a rough guess as to how to measure this - try to track how much activity/time shooters spend on social media, compare it to non shooters in similar age ranges, demographics, area, family situation, etc. see if within std dev.

I don't think video games cause kids to shoot up schools really at all. I think recommendation algorithms probably make a much bigger contribution.
Not sure what the definition of AI psychosis is, but addiction is definitely an issue and will continue to grow as long as policymakers...
