Android MCP space is about to 🚀
Anyone making cool MCP servers? Especially with the Kotlin SDK?

I'm giving a talk next week at #DroidconNYC and would love some examples to point people to!
I'm very excited to show off some crazy things with this talk at @droidcon.bsky.social NYC!

Wrote up my thoughts from where I started using Cursor in December to where I think we are today and what that learning process really felt like. As an #AndroidDev using Firebender & Claude developing an MCP I truly do see big changes coming.

Vibe Coding is Driving
I make a plan of where I want to go and drive. That's what vibe coding is and its time for software engineers to develop judgment and adapt their senses.

Don't sleep on AI tooling for mobile engineering. Everyone is figuring this out now with 0-1 years experience.
If you could whisper one Android dev secret to every junior starting today, what would it be?

Goodbye Espresso. Maestro/Appium/etc this is your notice to pivot to something else.
May 23, 2025 at 12:49 AM
In the next 6-12 months I will be deleting all Espresso tests in every repository I'm a contributor to. Not because of Google Gemini Journey, but because it's all possible and even more performant today via MCPs.

Think Cursor is having some time dilation as its been about 30 seconds since that duration got updated.

Excited to speak at DevSummit hosted at Capital One's offices lu.ma/kz7hrhry If you wanted to pick my brain about CI techniques this is a good time to do it. I'll be covering Gradle Config Cache reuse, Docker layer caching for Gradle User Home, JVM heap sizing, and a bunch of other neat techniques.

I think I just found a thread leak in Gradle daemon in 8.12 nightly. Anyone else see similar behavior? Going to check it over in a couple different scenarios and older Gradle versions.

Benchmarking is hard!

This is a great example, let's dive into the diff to highlight what I'd typically surface if someone shared this benchmark at Square.

The diff: github.com/android/nowi...

(it's great that Arnaud shared the diff btw, too often benchmark authors don't)

I am trying the delicate experiment to benchmark #Koin #Kotlin framework with the Now in Android app, having real-world usage measurements: proandroiddev.com/benchmarking...
Sorry for flaming the internet again 😅 Feedback is welcome to help make this experiment process better 🙏
