Calgary Herald (Post Media) opinion piece, and the costs seem suspect as author claims $100m and rising (no attribution) and that we already paid for 16 jets.

Non the less, I would like to see the report Carney asked for and was supposed to be completed Sept. 2nd.

I agree, a lot of conflicting info, opinions and miss information.

Unknown if the $85 is US or Cdn. I suspect the former.

The last info I could find (2023) was the price of each was $85mil.
We paid in full for 4 jets ($340m).
We have paid for parts for 8 jets (unknown cost).

It is a complicated history.
I haven't yet seen the report promised Sept 2nd.

I haven't seen trade lawyers interpret the contract to let us know what the actual penalties are to not purchase some or all of the F-35s. Neither have I seen a cost analysis of the penalties should we cancel some/all of the jets.

Lots of speculation tho'

I did a search and don’t see a single account asking about Carney’s mention to Trump of that increased $8 Trillion dollars worth of investments that Canada will likely make in the U.S. over the next five years.

Better yet - build our own industrial military complex - starting with advanced drone tech.

Less expensive in regards to export costs and also likely less expensive to build out in numbers rather than large military equipment.

I'm disgusted and disappointed by the 12 month house arrest of Barbour and Lich. It cost Canadian taxpayers 5 mil and for what? Basically the net result is 730 days sitting at home and that works out to a cost of $6,849.31 PER DAY EACH.

What a crock of shit.

I think the U.S. is refocusing on our hemisphere and will become even more aggressive against Canada - even continued actions toward annexation - if they believe it is possible.

Our mineral and water resources, Arctic passage and additional land mass are their goals, further insulating themselves.

I am absolutely into UBI. One thing that does get missed, though - if it's to be rolled out on national scales it would have to be combined with rent controls and nationalized utilities. Because you can bet your life private landlords and shareholders would be giddy with the chance to gobble that up
