Making vis cool since 2014. Tufte hates this one weird trick.
Anyone going to UIST next week? Are there any visualization meetups I can crash?

Today I finished my last class ever. I've said that before (twice) but this time I mean it. Somebody stop me if I start browsing grad school websites again.

Museum and Planetarium Friends,

Many of you use NASA SVS material. Right now it is critical that we are able to document SVS's impact.

Please let us know how you are using our content (use my email address at the bottom of this page: svs.gsfc.nasa.gov).

Thank you!

Getting paid to teach journalism students about data storytelling.
Which is wild because I’ve never taken a journalism class in my life.

Twas the night before the VIS deadline, and all through the space,
The reviewers were waiting to judge my disgrace.
The figures were crammed, the text full of might,
But let’s be real—Reviewer 2 won’t think it’s right.

My hot take: The erasure of scivis in vis research needs to stop. Just read a paper aiming to define universal visualization types. Even TABLES made the cut, but no mention of scivis. This happens often. If you mean infovis, say infovis, but don’t call it "universal" while ignoring an entire field.

Recently had a CT scan and obviously requested the data.

Plot twist: I have become the scientific visualization.
