You can do the lines and circles if you wanna warm up your lines but really I just do whatever feels good in the moment. Do a color study, material study, do a bunch of gesture drawings, character doodles, whatever it is that gets me in the creative/productive mindset. There is no right way to art.

I saw a post a while ago that said something like "you should NOT warm up by making a complete illustration, you gotta go back to the BASICS and do LINES and CIRCLES." And I wish I had quoted that bc really my guy, do whatever you want to warm up.
