Hello. I don't like this platform but I have to say this somewhere. What kills me is how easily we rolled over. Changing/subverting a country's government has always been a matter of invasion, assassination, fomenting coups and unrest, all that bloody stuff. And yet here we are. It boggles the mind

We are at Defcon 1 for our democracy. The power of sadistic spectacle, the priming of the public for future crackdowns, the testing the level of tolerance for when it invokes the Insurrection Act to target protesters. The normalisation of it. THAT is the biggest danger of the moment we’re in now.

The "billionaires" thing is the last war, and we lost it. Right now we're in a constitutional crisis, and if we don't deal with that, we're never doing to be able to stop the upward movement of wealth.

they'll gladly watch their whole life go down the drain as long as they can see "the enemies" are suffering. The free floating rage, wishing terrible things on others, surely that has got to be as annihilating a feeling as any feeling ever. There is a moral rot that is impossible to comprehend.

Half the country ran around high on a delusional mix of toxic manly bravado, web born pseudoscience & a belief that God would pull them thru. When He didn't, the panic set in as they wondered what they’d done to themselves. Because they never wanted to die, they just didn’t care if other people did

I for one don't have first term amnesia. I remember being a mental patient in control of my own TV privileges and snack schedule, watching in disbelief as the country burned and bodies piled-up in freezer trucks

There's no god-given reason for the US to be a super power. It took foreign and domestic investment, participation in global organizations, diplomacy, and adhering to international treaties and laws.

As a consumer, here are some regulations I l really like: water safety standards, FAA regulations, drug safety standards, basic cable rate caps, corn syrup production regulations, regulations on factory farming, "freshness seals" on my TastyKakes, electrical safety for my devices.
