I enjoyed this book, too. It does some interesting things with the tropes of ancestral magic and the outcast young person desperate to achieve acceptance. Recommended for fans of young adult fantasy with themes of magical education and inherited magic.

Band name: Good Dirt
Makes me think of the fine, volcanic soil of Eastern Washington. Add water and it’ll grow just about anything. Not only that, but “human” derives from a root meaning soil. “Earth” means soil. We are dirt beings from dirt world, and that is good.

I spent many treasured hours watching videos with my kids. It started with Teletubbies and Blue's Clues, continued into Magic Schoolbus and Bill Nye, and concluded with Buffy, Angel, and Firefly. Good times.
