My real name is Barbara Kaskosz and I am a mathematics professor.

I was using an alias so my students wouldn't concern themselves with my political views.

The times have changed. Hiding behind an alias no longer feels right for me.

I STAND STRONG AND SPEAK WITHOUT FEAR.

I always believed that faced with unlawful orders the American military would not turn against American people.

Trump purged the military brass and feeds the troops vile propaganda. New recruits are likely to be attracted to the MAGA movement. It will be a new army.

The President of the United States just called for the Mayor of Chicago Brandon Johnson and the Governor of Illinois JB Pritzker to be jailed. Pam Bondi will have a busy morning.

“The U.S. Supreme Court opens a new term Monday, which promises to be hugely consequential and focused in large part on how much power the Constitution gives to the president.”

Let’s hope the term will be consequential in a good way.

Nothing shocks anymore.

On the same day that the Supreme Court declined to hear Maxwell’s bid to overturn her conviction, Trump, when asked whether he would pardon Maxwell, said he would speak to the Department of Justice. “I haven't heard the name in so long.”

American democracy needs grand experiments like those of a century ago: new institutional forms that provide a way for increasingly alienated Americans to connect to one another and to the prosperity of the richest nation in the world.

Trump said today that he was considering invoking the Insurrection Act, which would allow him to deploy troops despite any court orders to the contrary. “We have an Insurrection Act for a reason,” he said.

Yes, just not the reason that Trump plans to use it for.

Trump is creating a false narrative of “burning cities” and “enemy from within”, to justify invoking the Insurrection Act. The Act empowers him to deploy the U.S. military, to imprison his opponents, and to suspend elections.

In Chicago, children were paraded outside in the thick of the night, zip-tied and alone, while ICE rampaged through their homes — all at Trump’s request. He talks about an “enemy from within” but the biggest enemy is him and his lackeys.

Understand what they are doing: using the massive power of the state - including military power and the power to imprison - to carry out a campaign to eliminate their political opposition.

It's growing in seriousness by the hour.

A legal victory for our Overpass Brigade! After months of being prohibited from attaching our signs to the fence based on an obscure 1896 RI law, the prohibition has been lifted!

Thanks to our State and local leaders, and RI ACLU for your support!
