I don't belive in trying read a certain number of a books a year, I just try to read things in different genres and from different years and by different people - the dreaded ~dei~ of reading. I only read about 40 books this year but they spanned from the 1930s to now and like 15 different genres

I just reread the giver (it took like 2 hours) and one thing that stood out to me was the birthmother thing, which extremely in passing but it's deeply insinuated you would be having children starting at 12/13 if you get assigned that. Do that 3 times until you're 14/15. Then menial labor for life.

If anyone is tired of ST and wants an actual good show about small town horror drama/apocalypse-occuring/insanely well-plotted but never loses grip on itself/starts with a child going missing then fucking watch DARK, it's incredible, and only 3 seasons. also watch it in German
