To all the writers:
Yes—doubt will follow you.
But so will courage,
if you let it.
So write.
Even when it’s hard.
Especially when it’s hard.
Because the world is waiting
for the story only you can tell.

Definitely, not. I'm sure your story is great! 😊

Plot twist: writing the book was the easy part.
katehalena.bsky.social
Every self-published book is a reminder: you believed in yourself when no one else would.
katehalena.bsky.social
Behind every great book is a writer who swore a hundred times it would never be finished.

Self-publishing is 20% writing, 80% realising you're also the marketing team, design team, and tech support... 😅

No agent? No problem. Self-publish and meet your readers anyway.

Self-publishing: because waiting for permission is overrated.
katehalena.bsky.social
That sounds like an interesting story! 🤔 I hope it gets published.

The power of self-publishing lies in one simple truth: you believe in your book enough to make it happen yourself.

Rejections are generic. Most agents don't want to take risks on a new author or on a book they may not know how to promote. Also, getting represented by an agent doesn't mean you'll get published. I'd rather not waste more time on the process.

The agents said no. That’s fine—I’ll say yes to myself. In a few months, my book will be out in the world on my terms. Watch this space! 🥳

Agent bio: “I love stories about secrets, strong female characters, complicated relationships, and open to international settings.”
Rejection: “This does not sound like a fit for my list at this time...”
katehalena.bsky.social
Your worth as a writer doesn’t hinge on an agent’s reply. Your value was never up for debate.

Querying tip:
Be yourself, but also don’t be too much yourself. And also sound like someone else. But different. But not too different. Clear?
katehalena.bsky.social
Yep 😅 trust me to post something without a typo late at night
katehalena.bsky.social
Agent bio: "Send me something fresh and usual!"
Rejection: "This felt a little too different from what's currently selling."
katehalena.bsky.social
Believing in your story doesn't mean pretending it's perfect -- it means trusting that it has a place in this world. 💫

Basically, if you haven’t deleted your manuscript or thrown your laptop out the window… congratulations, you’ve survived. 😅
katehalena.bsky.social
If you can survive the query process, you can survive anything -- including edits, deadlines, and probably a zombie apocalypse 😅

It looks a bit shocked 😲

Writing is the art of leaving pieces of yourself between the lines, hoping someone else will find them and feel a little less alone. ✨️
