It's 2026, and what better way to start than by learning something about myself? Why yes, and it only took me until the 5th of January to realize that I have a problem, well, a couple of problems. One, I'm a people pleaser. Even if I want something for myself, I jump on the approval train pretty quickly. Two, I say yes to spending money before giving it some real thought. I know I was not raised to value money or live within my means. At fifty, this can no longer be an excuse.

I made it to 50. I've been away because, well, health happens. I've been tested for blood cancers, lupus, and genetic conditions. I have a blood clot in my spleen. It's been a lot. However, I am grateful that I'm 50, living life to the fullest, and making some changes. I cannot keep living in fear of money, and I need to forgive my parental units and myself. Not just a city centered around entertainment. Burbank, CA, has a small-town feel, surrounded by many larger cities. Families who have never left, mom-and-pop restaurants, and a multitude of unique shopping experiences make Burbank a destination to visit for a weekend getaway, whether you're flying in or driving from the surrounding areas. Burbank, CA, was named after dentist Dr. David Burbank in 1887. Home to the Disney Studios, Warner Bros., and NBC. Also known for their Aviation history, with Lockheed being the leader of aviation, especially during World War II. With so much growth emerging from a small town, when people come to visit, they miss out on what the locals enjoy year-round.

A picture can possibly tell you what is going on, or the picture can hide the pain you felt. Once upon a time in 2014, I was going through a very dark time. The reason I thought about this was that this photo was taken on Halloween weekend 2014. It was my first Halloween where the kids went between their father and me, and well, he had them. I had attended a Halloween party and left early the next day to visit a friend's cabin. I did everything I could to try and feel better up there.

My autistic brain makes me overthink any project I need to complete. Including, but not limited to: Work, Quizzes, Essays, and Day-to-Day Life. I tend to perform fairly poorly on my first essay of any semester, and on my first one for my Cavendish class, I received a 79% with a lot of feedback. The feedback my professor provided was all items I was already familiar with. I was just overthinking and freezing when writing my paper. My second essay for this class is due October 21st. Quite some time from today, September 24th.

Today is Rosh Hashanah. My children are culturally Jewish. In Judaism, the mother being Jewish makes the child Jewish, and well, I'm not Jewish. However, their father is Jewish and they've been raised in a Jewish home. Like any good divorced family (OK, the ones that don't have to battle over children), we divide between Jewish and non-Jewish holidays. They are always with me for Christmas Eve, Christmas, and Easter, and they're always with their father for the Jewish holidays. Based on the current state of America and because of the disdain for the Jewish people, it does worry me a little to have my son today in temple with his father.

Did you ever think, "Why did I drop the Monsters and Monstrosities class for the Margaret Cavendish class?" and then realize you made the best decision? I did. I'm a month into this semester, and, like the Jane Austin class I took, I've gone from not having any desire to read Jane Austin to appreciating her work. I think I get so hyper-focused on writers I want to read that I block out any writers who could end up leaving a lasting impact on me. Hence, Margaret Cavendish and Jane Austin.

Picture it, a mere nine years ago, two people embarked on a new relationship after both had recently been divorced. They met through Tinder, and the rest is history. Not so quick. My partner and I became domestic partners during COVID, when it was on the rise, and who knew what was going to happen. With him being a Type 1 Diabetic and me having a rare artery condition, we wanted to be able to have the rights of a married couple without being married yet. So in CA, it is a Domestic Partnership.

I missed days two through six, and I may miss more days. The point of trying to post daily is to get used to writing my authentic self. So onto day seven's post... Picture it...Nine years ago, two people, in a new relationship, were talking about Saturday Night Live. Person two (moi) never really watched it, ever. Person one explains a skit with Joe Piscapo in it. Person two says, Yeah, the bad guy in the movie Ghost. Person two was very wrong. Following this event, Person One creates a "Piscapo Original" featuring the man's face.

I took a spiritual class with some women back in March of 2024. We were asked to write about our thoughts on another woman in attendance. This is what was written about me, and it's interesting what others can see that in the moment, we may not notice. What if I turned my blog into a Commonplace Blog? Commonplace books have been around for hundreds of years. Now you may call them a journal, a list of thoughts, the list goes on. Instead of using social media (yes, a blog is social media) to post my crazy thoughts, images, and things that interest me. This could be fun and a way to really start blogging again. I received my first "F" in a class, not the total class grade, but for a quiz in my French class. I've not received an "F" in any of my courses from Jr. College, and Undergrad; now, it has happened in Grad School. The thing is, I did not notice before taking French that I am probably dyslexic. I struggled in my linguistics class, but I passed. I am an English Major so I write a lot. I have been correcting my writing for as long as I can remember. I transpose letters and my mind moves too quickly.

I was raised with no sense of what to do when I got older. I am not close to my family, and there is a reason. I was jealous of those who had two parents in their homes and, for that matter, had lovely homes with pets, etc. I also used to walk with my walkman (aging myself) and listen to classical music while pretending that while I was walking, it was the opening of a movie, a movie where my life would match those in the films I saw or those people who seemed to live a "perfect" life.
