The funny thing, Laurel, is that so often we don’t know the impact of our existence on the rest of the world. Our actions are small pebbles falling in a pond, the ripples go out forever. We are Jurassic butterflies whose beating wings change the future.

Even though I hadn’t visited the Palisades in years, and had no plans to return, It’s sad to know my remembered places just aren’t there anymore, gone up in smoke. I feel for the current residents and shock and fear they must be going through.

Seeing the news clips from the fire in Pacific Palisades has been surreal an distressing. I grew up there. The high school I graduated from is burning. Probably the apartment I lived in with my dad for many years is gone too.

Been playing Elder Scrolls Online for years, likewise Hearthstone. Was on Palia until they ran out of quests, and Civilization VI. Looking forward to Civilization VII and Tales of the Shire next year.

Last night the power went out in my apartment for seven hours thanks to the PNW bomb cyclone. The outage started in the evening so you’d think I could just call it an early night and sleep through it. But no. My phone was low on charge so I kept thinking if it dies how will I know what time it is?

This is Mitzi. While she is no longer my cat, I still visit her occasionally to clip her claws (it’s complicated).

Just watched the first episode of Dune: Prophecy. It held my interest all the way through and while not perfect (the bar/club scene felt a little too current worldly) I’ll keep watching.
