Husband, father, occasional writer, lover of music, cheese and all things spooky.
Wrote two novels during lockdown. The Burnt Watcher and Visitation. A third escapes me.
There is a budget hole in the UK of about £20bn over 5 years. Brexit has cost around £90bn a year. I wonder what the solution to our financial woes could be?
I assume that Reeves won't announce that we are rejoining the single market, however. So, more obfuscation and tinkering to appease Farage.

I just made a tiny badger. Because...why not?

With Measles and Whooping Cough cases increasing in the US, how long should we wait before introducing vaccination-status checks at our borders?

A little reminder to the likes of RFK jnr: we are but the third generation of humans where infectious disease has not been the main cause of mortality.
Go to an English graveyard and see how many graves contain children. THIS is the world you will create.

So the US "peace" plan which favours Russia was, it seems, drafted in...Russia, by the Russians. Then the US agreed it.
So, again, what would Trump do differently if he were a Russian agent?

Not sure I could be higher without the aid of a sherpa.

So in the Russia/US peace plan for Ukraine, what, exactly, does Russia lose?

Labour can royally f*ck off at this point. When Tiny Tommy Ten Names approves of your asylum policy you have gone badly wrong. When will Labour stop pandering to the worst in our society and stand up to the traitorous leader of Reform Ltd?

This is the face of someone who is now exactly one year shy of 60.

So, not only d9es Corbyn and Sultana's party have a terrible name they are using Gen AI to do their artwork. How pro-worker is that?

Just received a lovely birthday hamper from The Offspring with the note "Don't remember how old you are but it's in the hundreds, right?"

Watched Weapoms last night. On the whole, a very good take on what a fairytale would actually be like to live in. But, my god, it was dark. Why do modern films all have to be shot in a mine?

Off to Bristol Old Vic next Friday to see Uncanny live. Bloody hell Ken!

It's my birthday in a few days and I have treated myself to the Folio edition of Klara and the Sun.
It is deeply pretty and tactile.

Is Detectorists the most wonderful piece of writing and acting? It's a rhetorical question, of course.

In any other western country the emails that have just been released would spell the end of Trump's career and open the way to prison.
In the US now? Not a chance.

"Is it fair that those without children subsidise those who choose to have children?" Well, Jeff, do you want a state pension?

Trump is over time to sue the BBC for defamation in the UK.
Panorama was never broadcast in the US.
If he tries to go ahead EVERYTHING he said in relation to Jan 6th will come out.
There was no harm to his reputation from the broadcast.
The BBC should apologise for the edit and then sit tight.

Can anyone tell me the point of COP30? We KNOW that governments won't do what is necessary.

Farage has a history of misusing public money. He was a close associate of a man guilty of taking bribes from Russia. He has been paid over £500k by Russia Today. He lied about buying a house in Clacton. He then said that his partner bought it. His partner is not in a position to buy that house.
